Main tasks
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in pharmaceutical primary packaging.
  • Lead new product development from concept through industrialization and launch between customer and manufacturer.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with pharmaceutical customers, CMOs, and industry partners.
  • Translate customer and market requirements into compliant technical solutions, ensuring regulatory compliance, commercial viability, and lifecycle optimization of products.
  • Develop and present commercial proposals, quotations, and tailored packaging solutions.
  • Collaborate with R amp;D, Quality, Regulatory, Tooling, and Manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility of new product development and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct market analysis, monitor industry trends, and provide insights to drive growth strategies.
  • Track business development performance, manage the sales pipeline, and support revenue and KPI targets.
  • Support contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and long-term commercial agreements.
Area of responsibility
  • Overall responsible for all Sales, Business and Product Development activities within PPP NA (Gx Berlin, Ohio) and Sales activities in North America for the packaging systems supplied by the PPP sites located overseas
Product Development:
  • Lead the development of primary plastic packaging products (e.g., bottles, caps, closures, droppers, jars, containers) for pharmaceutical applications.
  • Translate customer and market requirements into technical product specifications.
  • Coordinate with R amp;D, Quality, Regulatory, Tooling, and Manufacturing teams to ensure timely product development and scale-up.
  • Ensure products comply with pharma regulatory standards (e.g., GMP, ISO 15378, USP, EP, DMF requirements).
  • Manage product lifecycle from concept, prototyping, validation, commercialization, to post-launch optimization.
  • Support stability studies, extractables/leachables, and qualification documentation as required by customers.
Business Development:
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with pharmaceutical companies, CMOs, and contract packers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, procurement teams, and technical stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver technical-commercial proposals, samples, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to support customer audits, technical meetings, and negotiations.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging pharma packaging needs.
  • Support contract negotiations, pricing strategies, margin analysis, commercial feasibility studies and long-term commercial agreements.
Cross-Functional amp; Strategic Responsibilities:
  • Track and report business development performance metrics, pipeline status, and forecast revenue.
  • Act as the interface between customers and internal teams for product and business initiatives.
  • Contribute to the product roadmap and innovation pipeline.
  • Participate in customer audits, regulatory inspections, and technical reviews.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, cost, sustainability, and manufacturability.
  • Drive sustainable packaging initiatives, including material optimization and recyclability where applicable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Polymer Science, Packaging Technology, Chemistry, or a related field, or 5–10 years of experience in pharmaceutical plastic packaging, preferably in primary packaging.
  • MBA or commercial qualification is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in product development and business development roles.
  • Strong understanding of pharma regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Experience working with pharma customers, CMOs, or regulated markets.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic materials, injection/blow molding, and tooling.
  • Excellent commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into customer-friendly solutions.
  • Project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Customer-centric mindset with strategic thinking ability.
Salary Range: $90k - $110k/yearly
