Primary Objective:  In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Removes/replaces loom beams using tie-in equipment.  Other duties as assigned by management.

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

1. Check warp out paper for warp outs.

1. Remove empty beam from loom. After loom bolts are out of gear, use the breaker bar to spin loom over to get angle on the bolts, so they can be loosened.
2. Install loom beam by spinning loom over from FA side while using the breaker bar.

1. Take empty beam to storage area.
2. Grease/oil harness drives, bearings, and beam stand at each warp out. Clean under the loom
3. Remove oil pads from underneath tappet housing and loom, scrape grease, oil and clippings from underneath loom and tappet housing.  Sweep floor, mop underneath loom, beam area and tappet housing.  Put out wet floor sign and remove wet floor sign after the floor has dried.
4. Determine loom beam to be used and remove loom beam from inventory, using computer.
5. Use warp truck to transport loom beam from storage area to loom.
6. Load new loom beam in loom.
7. Rack and tie beams.
8. Break down tie frame.
9. Pull knots through drop wires, heddles and reed.
10. Repair broken ends, remove loom safety pin, start loom, and check quality.
11. Enter information in computer system.
12. Performs reties, as needed.
13. Assists personnel in drawing reeds.
14. Change battery in warp truck as needed, and at least once per shift.
15. Empty mop bucket at end of each shift.
16. Use beam gear hand truck to remove beam gear.
17. Use waste pull off machine to remove waste from beams.  If waste pull off machine is not operational: pull waste from loom beam if less than 50 yards (two-person job).  Cut waste off loom beam if more than 50 yards. 
18. Assist Material Coordinators by staging fill yarn at looms, as needed.

1. Follow procedures for using Warp Truck down loom aisles:
   1. Ensure no equipment is on the aisle that is not in use, or it has been moved at least three looms away.
   2. If Warp Changers are working at a loom (tying, racking, etc..) then the looms on the left and right, and up to three looms behind, may only be leased out and clamped until. 
2. The employee removing/inserting beams should start with the highest numbered loom first and then work their way down to the smallest numbered loom.  (Example... 914, 906, then 905.)

1. Participate in Safety programs and Neighborhood Watch.
2. Works safely and orderly.
3. Notify supervision of any hazardous or unsafe conditions.
4. Maintains clean and orderly work area.

1. 1. 1. Keep grease and yarn off FA and SU side of loom.  Keep yarn and grease off catwalk and floor.  All yarn waste must go inside the string waste can at loom.

1. Perform all necessary miscellaneous work pertaining to the above job duties.
2. Any other duties assigned by management.
3. Operates the Pull Off Machine safely and follows procedures.

Knowledge, Experience, Competencies and Supervision: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES:

Mandatory - Must be able to read and write in manner indicated on application.

Preferred - Prior experience as a Weaver or Beamer Operator.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to work assigned schedule.  Must be self-motivated.  Ability to legibly fill out forms/check sheets. Ability to perform mathematical calculations, such as addition and subtraction.  Knowledge of weaving procedures, quality assurance standards and product specifications.  Ability to learn job specific computer skills.  Ability to obtain powered industrial equipment license. Must complete basic weaver training.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Reports to the Shift Supervisor and works with minimum amount of supervision.

DIRECTION EXERCISED:

Limited to personal activities required to perform job duties.

Competencies:  Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.

• Must maintain high standards for work quality and safety.
• Must be able to determine and execute work priorities to maximize production and minimize machine down time.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with other members of the Weaving team, including Loom Fixers and other Technicians, Weavers, and Material Coordinators.
• Knowledge of job-related safety requirements.

• Ability to safely operate weaving machines, including starting and stopping the machine, threading yarn breaks, Drop wires and drop wire plugs and tying knots.

• Must be able to work independently and as a member of a two, three or four-person team.
• Must be able to follow a series of complex and specific steps to rack and tie correctly.
• Basic computer knowledge to enter data into inventory tracking software. 
• Ability to trouble shoot and take steps to correct issues and maximize efficiency.
• Ability to perform detailed work with yarn, including placing ends correctly through a series of small openings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Frequency - Amount - Description)

STANDING / WALKING:

Ability to stand and walk continuously for up to twelve (12) hours during a twelve (12) hour shift.

SITTING: 

Ability to sit for a short period of time on powered industrial truck.

MOVING SELF:

Moves throughout weaving department continuously during a twelve (12) hour shift.

CLIMBING:

Ability to ascend/descend a powered industrial truck.  Ability to step on/off catwalk as needed during a twelve (12) hour shift.

MOVING (MATERIALS): (Lifting - carrying - pushing - pulling)

Lifting/carrying - Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds without mechanical assistance.  Get help when needed.

HEARING / SPEAKING:

Must be able to communicate with co-workers and management as needed to perform job duties.

REACHING:

Vertical - Ability to reach full arm extension to perform job duties.

Horizontal - Ability to reach full arm extension to perform job duties.

VISUAL ACUITY:

Must have adequate normal, color vision and depth perception to perform job duties.  Ability to utilize both far and near vision while performing job duties.  Must be able to recognize and identify defects in fabric and sufficient vision to draw in ends.  Ability to see and separate double yarns and missing ends.

BENDING / STOOPING:

Ability to bend, stoop, squat or kneel, as needed to perform job duties.

MENTAL ABILITIES:

Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities   Ability to learn tie-in procedures.  Ability to recognize quality and loom problems and to record.  Ability to read warp out board.  Ability to learn job related computer skills.

OTHER:

Fingering - Ability to demonstrate good tactile discrimination and functional sensation.

Medium motor manipulation - Ability to utilize small hand tools, scissors and reed hook while performing tie-ins.  Ability to manipulate controls on powered industrial equipment and knotter.  Ability to manipulate and maneuver loom beams of various lengths, both full and empty, by hand and by powered industrial equipment.  Ability to manipulate and maneuver large beam gears onto/off loom beams.

Fine motor coordination - Ability to tie knots by hand.  Ability to enter job related data in the computer system.

Grip - Ability to utilize both a one handed and a two-handed grip.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Must wear hearing protection, safety glasses with permanent side shields and safety shoes always when in the warehouse and on production floor.  Must adhere to plant clothing and footwear policy.  Wear personal protective equipment as required by task at hand.  Use lockout/tagout where required.

Loom, scissors, reed hook, knotter, tie-in frame, powered industrial equipment, cart with broom, mop and water bucket, pry bars, wrenches, utility knife, putty knife, brush, utility truck with cleaning equipment, grease can, lease blocks, waste can, battery, loom beam, computer, warp truck, beam gear hand truck, scrapper, 2 watch your step signs, and wet floor sign.

MATERIALS USED:

Yarn, tie threads, oil/grease, pen/pencil, lease string, and knotter string.
