PROCESS TECHNICIAN


Job Summary:

The Process Technician is responsible for the setup, monitoring, and optimization of plastic injection molding equipment to ensure consistent, high-quality production. This role requires technical skills needed in injection molding, strong attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving to maintain efficiency, quality, and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, start up, and verify injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and process control systems.
  • Conduct first-shot inspections and confirm readiness for full production.
  • Inspect molded components for cosmetic and dimensional defects (e.g., flow lines, sink marks, short shots) and ensure product consistency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve molding and equipment-related process problems to minimize downtime.
  • Communicate process, quality, and production updates to operators, quality assurance, and supervisors.
  • Set up and operate secondary or downstream equipment as needed.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on molding machines, molds, and support systems.
  • Identify sources of scrap and waste; contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Adhere to all Quality, Environmental, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of injection molding machine operation, tooling, and process parameters.
  • Proficient in identifying and troubleshooting molding defects.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to read setup sheets, process documentation, and production work orders.
