Job Description: Job Title: Senior Maintenance Technician โ€“ High-Speed Bottling and Injection Molding Job Description This role provides advanced technical support for a highly automated, high-speed bottling and injection molding facility. You will lead complex troubleshooting, drive continuous improvement, and serve as a technical mentor for operators, mechanics, and supervisors. The position focuses on maximizing equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and ensuring safe, efficient production through expert knowledge of bottling, packaging, and injection molding systems. ResponsibilitiesPromote, model, and enforce the highest standards in safety and good manufacturing practices across the plant.Train and lead operators, mechanics, and supervisors on technical procedures related to high-speed bottle manufacturing and packaging equipment.Work directly with plant leadership to develop and execute continuous improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and solutions for recurring problems.Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize equipment downtime and perform root cause analysis to prevent repeat failures.Partner with other Senior Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross-functional technical issues and share best practices.Use available software systems and production data to analyze performance, identify issues, and drive throughput improvements.Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment to like-new condition during planned downtime.Create, update, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for troubleshooting machines and upload them to the BDA system.Take ownership of machine reliability and mean time between failures, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.Transfer technical knowledge to team members by developing operating and troubleshooting procedures for bottling production, including blow molding, filling/capping, labeling, and dry-end packaging.Support blow molding operations, including PET processing, machine setup, mold changes, and quality inspection systems.Support filling and capping operations, including beverage processing methods, cap feeding systems, light closures, vision inspection systems, laser date coders, sanitation and quality standards, and conveying systems.Support labeling operations, including roll-fed and/or cut-and-stack technology, machine setup, hot melt gluing systems, and associated conveying systems.Support dry-end packaging operations, including case packers, case conveyors, conventional and robotic palletizers, and stretch wrappers.Perform machine setups for all pack size changes to ensure efficient, accurate changeovers.Work with common OEM production equipment, including but not limited to Krones, Sidel, KHS, Sacmi, and Tech Long systems.Transfer knowledge and develop operating and troubleshooting procedures for injection technology, including Husky injection molding machines and associated systems.Maintain and troubleshoot Husky injection molding machines, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.Support auxiliary systems such as resin handling and blending, resin drying, dehumidification, vision inspection, conveying, and cooling systems.Maintain and troubleshoot mold systems, including internal hot runner and cold half maintenance, component wear identification, and detailed inspection of produced parts.Optimize plastic processing at high speeds while maintaining tight part tolerances and acceptable acetaldehyde (AA) levels.Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Regularly attend work and maintain required on-call availability to ensure equipment and facility uptime.Stand or walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment and safely lift up to 50 pounds as needed.Use personal toolbox and basic tools to perform daily maintenance and repair tasks.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. Essential SkillsProven experience as a maintenance technician or Senior maintenance technician in an automated industrial, bottling, packaging, or injection molding environment.Strong automation and industrial maintenance background, including preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of automated equipment.Hands-on experience with electrical maintenance, including 480 VAC and 24 VDC power systems.Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, as well as process and instrumentation diagrams.Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing PLC-based systems, including Siemens PLCs and Allen-Bradley PLCs.Proficiency in PLC programming, PLC troubleshooting, and working with Rockwell automation platforms.Experience with HMI interfaces and related programming for automated equipment.Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing issues with motors, electrical components, and control systems.Mechanical aptitude with experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems on production equipment.Experience working with high-speed bottling and packaging equipment, including Krones, Husky, Sidel, or similar OEM systems.Demonstrated ability to lead and develop others on equipment functionality, maintenance, and repair.Skilled in the use of shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinders, drill presses, mills, lathes, and assorted power tools.Proficient with precision measuring tools, including calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges.Ability to create clear, accurate SOPs and documentation for troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment.Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds safely.Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rotation to support production uptime.Ownership of a personal toolbox and basic hand tools required for daily maintenance work.
