Project Overview:
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.
This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
The candidate for this position will start on a short-term assignment working from the home office in Reston, VA and then will later mobilize to the jobsite in Cheyenne, WY.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team of planners and work with the project team to prepare schedule data for contract negotiations and project execution. The Planning Manager is accountable for schedule development, maintenance, forecasting, and monitoring activities. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects stay on track and on time. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, you will also have regular interfaces with senior internal and customer stakeholders.
Major Responsibilities:
Accountable for the development, maintenance, and forecasting of the project schedule
Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinates
Communicates with senior project management overall schedule progress, opportunities, and challenges
Regularly interacts with the client
Performs schedule development duties to include establishing the work breakdown structure (WBS), determining the work activity duration, establishing the proper workflow logic ties, and developing the required job expenditure
Identifies schedule trends for management attention
Determines critical-path activities for the project
Develops critical path schedule reports and schedule performance metrics
Identifies, reports, and analyzes activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule
Monitors and analyzes subcontractor schedules
Evaluates subcontractor schedules for required workarounds or potential schedule improvements
Ensures schedule updates are provided on time to support project reporting requirements
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in engineering, construction management, business, or related field and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience
5+ years of supervisory experience and demonstrated skills in applying team building leadership
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Experience in delivering large-scale combined cycle power projects or similar process plants
Experience in delivering fully integrated EPC projects
Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel
Significant experience of leading, managing, and organizing teams of diverse backgrounds and experience to meet project objectives
Advanced skill in Primavera P6 and proficient in Microsoft Office 365 software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent skill in oral and written communication, including experience presenting information to internal and external stakeholders
Ability to take initiative in project related tasks and coordination with various stakeholders, including senior management
