Job description

Position: Float Registered Nurse (RN)

On-Site: 100%

Full Position Salary Range: RN I $38.00 - $39.08/hour new graduates (includes $2/hour travel differential) or RNs with less than 6 months of experience. RN II: $39.08 - $52.99/hour (includes $2/hour travel differential)

* RNs with at least one year of periprocedural (defined as preparing patients for surgery/procedures, administering medications or monitoring patient during the procedure, and recovering the patient from the procedure), procedural abortion care, or ultrasound nursing experience.โ€ฏโ€ฏ

Additional Pay: +$2.25/hour for Spanish fluency (upon passing test)

Schedule: Full-Time; ~37.5 hours/week; Benefits-Eligible; Non-Exempt
Preferred Location: Ideal candidates reside within a 45-mile radius of the Denver Metro area.
Travel Requirements: This is a travel nursing position that requires regular travel to any of our procedural health centers, located Colorado and New Mexico.

Abortion Care: At PPRM, we all work in abortion care. This role supports abortion care through direct clinical triage, patient education, and follow-up, ensuring timely and empathetic support to those navigating abortion services.

Snapshot: As the Registered Nurse you will spend your time in the health center working with the health care team to deliver exceptional patient care in procedural abortions. You will work with a sensitive and vulnerable patient population and be exposed to patients who have experienced trauma.

Union: This role is represented by SEIU, Local 105 and is governed by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement.

In order to be fully considered for this role you will be required to complete a Pre-Hire RN Skills Self-Assessment along with this application.

Our Ideal Candidate:

    • Associate's degree in nursing required
    • Licensed as a registered nurse by the state board of nursing in all applicable states
    • BLS certified or must obtain within 30 days of hire
    • ACLS certified
      • Please note that if offered the position you must submit proof of an active ACLS at least 9 calendar days prior to your start date.
    • Previous experience with IV therapy, intramuscular injections, venipuncture, patient assessment, medication administration, emergency management, and consultation with advanced practice providers
    • Previous experience with abortion care and/or conscious sedation, recovery/post anesthesia care, ambulatory surgery/operating room, labor and delivery, gynecological procedural care, ultrasound in early pregnancy, telephone triage.
    • Previous experience with maintaining regulatory compliance required
    • Ability to be adaptable and function well in an ever-changing environment
    • Ability to navigate electronic documentation expectations
    • Excellent critical thinking and customer service skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent prioritization and multi-tasking skills
    • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team

    Primary Areas of Responsibility/Essential Functions:

    • Willingness and ability to travel to any/all PPRM abortion providing health centers to assist in abortion care. The primary locations include, but are not limited to: Denver, CO; Fort Collins, CO; CO Springs, CO; Albuquerque, NM.
    • Learn basic ultrasound technique for dating purposes per Planned Parenthood policy and procedure with approval and oversight from Clinical Quality Management (QM).
    • Educate patients about pregnancy and abortion options, procedures, and aftercare, and care for and educate patients experiencing early pregnancy complications.
    • Educate patients about birth control options.
    • Screen patientโ€™s medical history and identify information that may impact care.
    • Provide proper informed consent sessions prior to procedure.
    • Perform laboratory testing.
    • Initiate peripheral IV access.
    • Accurately administer, document, and account for all ordered and indicated medications.
    • Assist provider with procedural abortions.
    • Monitor and assess patients during conscious sedation.
    • Document all patient encounters clearly, accurately, completely, and efficiently.
    • Examine, identify, and properly dispose of products of conception (POC).
    • Monitor patients post procedure and post sedation.
    • Participate in the preparation, utilization, cleaning, processing, and sterilizing of all clinical tools and equipment.
    • Provide case management and follow up for patients.
    • Identify events that qualify for an incident reporting and notify management when encountered.
    • Adhere to the compliance of OSHA, CLIA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
    • Assist with emergency care.
    • Maintain the integrity of emergency equipment.
    • Assist with health center administrative duties as needed.
    • Demonstrate exemplary customer service that respects and honors all people.
    • Proactively seek a positive outcome with any problems encountered.
    • Other health center duties as assigned.

      COVID-19 Protocol: Vaccination against COVID-19 will no longer be a condition of employment. However, all Health Center/Patient or Community Facing Employees, must have the COVID vaccine or wear a mask at all times beginning November 1st. Proof must be uploaded upon hire.       Flu Protocol: All employees working directly with patients, the community or working in a health center will be required to have the flu shot or wear a mask during patient/community contact or while in the health center from November 1 โ€“ April 30 each year (Flu Season).
