General Statement or Primary Purpose
Primary Purpose of Position: The primary purpose of this position is to determine initial eligibility and to redetermine ongoing public assistance for the Long Term Care, Special Assistance and CAP Medicaid Program.
Duties and Responsibilities or Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Thorough knowledge of income maintenance program assigned. Considerable knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. General knowledge of all income maintenance programs. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of regulations, policies and procedure of varying complexity. Ability to work independently and prioritize work. Ability to instruct arid evaluate the work of lower level employees. Ability to train employees in new and existing rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants. Ability to perform caseworker function under and within structured time frames.
Minimum Education and Experience
Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. NOTE: Will accept applications for Income Maintenance Caseworker II at Salary Grade 63 ($44,013 - $69,566) working against Income Maintenance Caseworker III. Minimum Education and Experience: One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) and NC FAST Certificate are preferred. Valid North Carolina driver's license required. Bilinguals encouraged to apply. DD 214 is required from applicants claiming a military preference.
