Description:

The Band & Orchestra, Combo, and Piano Sales Consultants are West Music’s customer service specialists in our stores and are critical to West Music’s success in meeting our mission of assisting customers and allowing them to Play now. Play for life. Sales Consultants are responsible for exceeding customer expectations by listening to customer needs and providing assistance in selecting merchandise by sharing in-depth product information to connect customers with the right product and drive sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as business needs dictate. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Retail Sales Responsibilities 
    • Achieve individual sales goals while contributing to the success of the team.
    • Greets customers, provides information on products and services, answers questions, obtains and sells merchandise to customers both in person and via telephone or e-mail.
    • Will plan and complete required number of outbound sales calls to customers and prospects.
    • Completes various sales and product knowledge training courses. 
    • Demonstrates merchandise to customers and has full knowledge of product lines to best match customers with the correct product.
    • Maintains records of customer and prospect information for follow up, mailings and special events 
    • Completes all thank-you cards and other required paperwork associated with sales and customer databases.
    • Assists in planning sales promotions and clinics. Promotes sales by properly completing and maintaining displays and signage corresponding to the West Music Model Store standards.  
    • Assist with the preparation of the sales floor, including stocking, changing displays, and light cleaning
    • Correctly opens and closes store following established procedures.
  • Reflects the values of West Music and demonstrates passion for our mission, vision, and core values.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Band/orchestra/piano instrument knowledge (knowledge and/or playing experience) required.
  • Possess effective communication skills which reflect active listening, critical thinking, and a customer-focused tone. Must have the ability to speak, write, and communicate ideas to a variety of audiences in a clear, concise manner.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft programs required. 
  • The ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Business, or related field desired.
  • Prior retail or outside sales experience preferred.
