Position Overview

Surya Inc. is seeking a seasoned Photo Stylist with an eye for great design and a passion for home decor and interiors. The Stylist will drive the visual execution of high-end home furnishings product and lifestyle photography, making informed styling decisions grounded in creative confidence and technical fluency in studio workflows. This role is ideal for a photo/prop stylist with a strong point of view in interiors and home, who understands how premium materials, scale, and composition translate through the camera. The ability to work well under pressure, solve problems quickly and excel in a fast-paced studio environment are critical for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, prep, and style for a wide range of photography
  • Help translate design concepts into practical sets
  • Collaborate with various Marketing stakeholders to interpret intended vision, evaluate proposed merchandise, and define steps needed to achieve scene and style
  • Interpret and refine creative direction into fully realized, camera-ready sets, owning the execution of furniture placement, prop selection, and spatial balance
  • Lead photo prep and assist with art direction by presenting ideas for shoots, making mood boards for specific projects and making informed product selections for shots
  • Prepare for shoots through research, prop sourcing, product coordination, and pre-production planning
  • Make confident, real-time styling adjustments during shoots to improve composition, proportion, and visual impact while maintaining alignment with brand standards
  • Collaborate closely with photographer to manage pacing on set, troubleshoot styling challenges, and deliver consistent, elevated results
  • Manage product flow and studio orders, including sample coordination during shoots, flagging issues and maintaining organization throughout the process
  • Organize and maintain the prop library and styling areas to support efficiency, relevance, and visual standards
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in styling systems, prep efficiency, and studio workflows


Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree (Visual Merchandising or Interior Design focus is a plus)
  • 3โ€“5+ years of professional experience styling product and lifestyle photography, preferably within high-end home, interiors, or luxury consumer brands
  • Portfolio demonstrating interior-focused, high-quality photo styling
  • Strong understanding of composition, scale, proportion, and spatial balance as it relates to interiors and furniture
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced photo studio environment while maintaining elevated visual standards
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple shoots and deadlines simultaneously
  • Confident collaborator who takes feedback well, contributes ideas thoughtfully, and solves problems quickly on set
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
