Job description

The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, is looking for a photo intern to join its team for summer 2026. The ideal candidate will have experience in photojournalism and visual storytelling. Selected intern will work with and be mentored by The Hill's photo team. The summer internship is an 11-week program running from June 1 until August 14. It is in person and based at the outlet's offices on Capitol Hill.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Capture content (photo and video) from various locations in and around the U.S. Capitol
• Edit photos and videos under the direction of the photo editor
• Produce content for print and digital stories
• Support digital asset media organization
• Collaborate on special projects and major event coverage as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Requirement & Skills:
• Ideal Backgrounds Include: Journalism, Photography, Digital Media, or Communications
• Proficiency with basic camera operation
• Experience with Photoshop and Lightroom
• Must be self-motivated
• Must be detail-oriented
• Must be a team player
• Must have the ability to multitask
• Must have be solution-oriented and a natural problem solver
• Must be comfortable operating under deadline in a high-pressure environment
• Must be comfortable operating in varied environments both indoors and outdoors
• Must be able to take feedback and constructive criticism
Salary Range: $17.95 Hourly/ $18.40 Hourly after 7/1/2026
