The Visual Content Producer helps tell the UWM story by creating videos, images, photo slideshows,and other visuals that appeal to prospective and current students, parents, influencers,andadditionalaudiences. This individual works with colleaguesin the Division of Marketing & Communications (MarComm)to develop and systematically archive channel-appropriate content that maximizes the benefit of the university's in-person events and digitalplatforms.

TheVisual Content Producer must have the ability to drive or secure transportation to and from videoand photoshoots asrequired- primarily in Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Videography:

  • In collaboration with MarComm colleagues, develop video concepts for communications, marketing and advertising campaigns, and social media channels
  • Shoot assignments and gather model releases according to MarComm policy
  • Edit, publish, and deliver videos following established processes to ensure SEO and accessibility

Photography:

  • In collaboration with MarComm colleagues, develop photo concepts for print and digital publications, print and digital marketing/advertising campaigns, and social media channels
  • Shoot assignments, using lighting expertise, and gathering caption information and model releases according to MarComm policy
  • Edit and deliver photos

Pre-production & Project Management:

  • Write scripts, develop storyboards, and create timelines and production plans for video projects
  • Assist in the identification and recruitment of a diverse array of students and other subjects for video and photo shoots
  • Schedule video and photo shoots, handling preparations such as purchasing props or hiring a makeup artist
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely record of activities and projects

Digital Assets Management:

  • Select the best (i.e. cull) shots, enter keywords, and upload footage and project files to video and photo archives, following established procedures
  • Using standard list of keywords, enter and ensure all files have thorough and accurate metadata
  • Follow established procedures to denote images that have model releases
  • Work with MarComm team members and campus partners to address their needs in locating photo and video files

Content Creation:

  • Select and upload images and write captions for photo slideshows, banners, and other materials for the uwm.edu domain and/or UWM social media accounts

Other projects and special assignments of duties as assigned.

$58,000-$62,000 (Final salary offer will be determined based on qualifications and experience)

Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated excellence in shooting and editing video

  • Demonstratedproficiencyin using Adobe Premiere (or an equivalent software program) for video editing

  • Demonstrated excellence in producing photos on location and in the studio

  • Demonstratedproficiencyin using Photoshop (or an equivalent software program)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree inFilm,Photography,Journalism,Communications,Art,or another related field

  • Two yearsofprofessional videography and/or photography experience

  • Demonstrated ability in project management, scheduling,and organizational skills

  • Experience working with cinema cameras and color grading footage

  • Experience using camera movement equipment such as sliders, gimbals, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience with lighting

  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective videos for marketing, advertising, and social media use

  • Experience in digital asset management including culling, entering keywords,and project/file organization

  • Experience with photo software applications such as Bridge and Lightroom

  • Experience gathering information to write photo captions that meet journalistic standards for quality and style,as recommended by the AP Stylebook

  • Experience handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience working in collaborative team environments
