Job description

Position: Photo Management Intern - Fall 2026

Location: Bronx Zoo

Department: Library & Archives

Duration: Fall 2026; 10-12 weeks, approx. 8-12 hours per week

Stipend:  $330-$600 total stipend to be paid as one lump sum upon the successful completion of the internship less applicable taxes. 

Application Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis but must be received by August 20, 2026. The position may be filled before the deadline. Candidates are encouraged to apply early. 

 

The Opportunity:

This is an excellent internship opportunity for someone interested in exploring the field of archives and digital asset management. The intern will gain exposure to the daily activities as well as the long-term goals of an institutional library and archives. The intern will learn best practices in the management of photos, both current and historical, in the WCS Library and Archives. The intern will learn how to perform new ingesting and keywording workflows to improve access to current photos in WCS's digital asset management system and record information about historical photos according to archival standards. The intern may also learn to digitize historical photos in order to improve their accessibility and preservation (as time permits).
