Job description

Salary starting at $60,000.00/yr. 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversees phlebotomy operations and personnel on all shifts including scheduling available staff in an efficient manner.
  • Communicate Facility Concerns to Area managers
  • Work with Area Managers and other Field personnel in such a way as to provide excellent customer service.
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision and accurately maintain time records.
  • Regularly reviews phlebotomy competency, providing training, skills assessment and in-service education of assigned staff as required.
  • Monitoring STAT’s, Peak & Trough and after hours specimen collection.
  • Interacts with Phlebotomy Manager and Laboratory Director to ensure that these personnel are trained in such a way as to provide phlebotomy services satisfactorily and within local, state and federal regulations.
  • Prepares and evaluates reports indicating phlebotomy production progress.
  • Prepares regular and annual evaluations of phlebotomy staff.
  • Works cooperatively with all other departments, including but not limited to: Laboratory Dispatch, Courier Dispatch, Couriers, Accessioning, Customer Service and Data Entry.
  • Extensive knowledge of required specimen preservation, adequate patient preparation and specimen procedures. Monitors that personnel follow established protocols.
  • Regularly reports to Phlebotomy Manager.
  • Must conduct business in a professional and ethical manner and lead by example.
  • Responsible to attend to the immediate needs of phlebotomy personnel.
  • Constant in-service of phlebotomy personnel regarding safety, resident’s rights and conduct, company changes in policy, procedures and local, state and Federal Compliance.
  • Diligently monitor phlebotomist personnel activities including time tracking, travel, general practices, provided operational reports.
  • Assists with oversight of morning courier operations, scheduling available staff and monitoring routes.
  • Minimal housekeeping of their assigned drop site and/or workstations.
  • Review and approve phlebotomists working regular hours and overtime. Responsible for accurate and timely submission of time and mileage sheets to payroll department.
  • Work cooperatively with payroll department & representative.
  • Prepares and submit weekly activity report to Phlebotomy Manager.
  • Attend Regional Phlebotomy meetings when scheduled.
