Job description

Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description

The Lab Technician supports laboratory operations by preparing test solutions, maintaining instruments and work areas, handling pharmaceutical waste, and ensuring accurate documentation in line with pharmaceutical industry standards. This role contributes directly to high-quality analytical testing by supporting dissolution analysts, managing laboratory supplies, and upholding strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory guidelines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare test solutions, including diluents and mobile phases, according to established methods and procedures.
  • Collect dirty glassware and clean glassware as needed to ensure consistent availability for laboratory testing.
  • Perform daily instrument calibrations and verifications as required, documenting activities in accordance with laboratory standards.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and complete documentation in compliance with pharmaceutical industry standards and applicable guidelines.
  • Coordinate and perform the collection of pharmaceutical waste from laboratories, including dumping sample waste, removing and emptying solvent waste jugs, handling sharps containers, and removing other pharmaceutical wastes.
  • Clean and maintain work areas and laboratory instrumentation to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient workspace.
  • Track, receive, and log solvents and other stock items; order and stock laboratory supplies, including glassware, and keep general storage areas clean and tidy.
  • Assist dissolution analysts with instrument setup and cleanup to support timely and accurate testing.
  • Coordinate or assist in the coordination of safety, audit, or similar programs, including conducting weekly checks of eye-wash stations.
  • Communicate effectively with personnel across multiple departments to support smooth laboratory operations.
  • Perform all duties in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, Good Documentation Practices, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain the compliance status required by company and facility standards by following all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Actively seek additional assignments when testing in the primary area of responsibility is completed to support overall team productivity.
  • Take initiative to pursue training and learning opportunities, improving personal skills and sharing knowledge with other team members.
  • Apply mathematical operations to tasks such as determining test reliability, performing analysis of variance, and using correlation techniques as needed for laboratory work.
Essential Skills
  • Strong chemistry knowledge with hands-on laboratory experience in a quality control or similar environment.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of basic instrumental technologies used in analytical testing.
  • Ability to perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses accurately and reliably.

Work Environment

The role is based in a laboratory setting within a pharmaceutical environment, where the Lab Technician works with analytical instruments, test solutions, solvents, and various types of laboratory glassware. The position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination to move about laboratory and office locations, with the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time. The role involves lifting, carrying, and moving weights up to 50 pounds, as well as frequent arm, hand, and finger dexterity for grasping, handling materials, and typing. Visual acuity is required to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for extended periods. The technician must be able to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods. Personal protective equipment is required, including safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, latex or similar gloves, safety apron, and an organic respirator on an occasional basis. The work schedule offers a flexible start time, with a stable start between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
