Fort Bend Dental - Lab
Position Summary
The Dental Lab Technician I is an entry-level laboratory team member responsible for supporting case intake, model fabrication, workspace maintenance, and foundational prosthetic production tasks under the direct supervision of the Lab Manager. This role serves the lab team and providers by ensuring incoming cases are properly received, documented, and prepared for production in a timely and organized manner. The core purpose is to build technical foundational skills, maintain a clean and efficient lab environment, and contribute to accurate case tracking and workflow support across the laboratory.
Core Responsibilities
Level I: Foundational lab support tasks under direct supervision; focus on case intake, model work, documentation, and workspace standards.
Case Intake & Model Fabrication
- Review all incoming cases upon arrival to verify that necessary components are present, including impressions, digital scans, bite registrations, and provider prescriptions.
- Identify and promptly report any missing or incomplete case information to the Lab Manager to prevent production delays.
- Disinfect and prepare all physical and digital impressions in accordance with strict infection control protocols and industry compliance standards.
- Construct accurate working models from impressions using appropriate materials and techniques to replicate patient anatomy for fabrication use.
Documentation & Workspace Standards
- Log and document each case into the laboratory management system, ensuring accurate case tracking from intake through production.
- Maintain the laboratory workspace in a clean, organized, and fully stocked condition at all times.
- Monitor and report supply levels โ including plaster, stone, impression materials, and tools โ to prevent shortages and support uninterrupted operations.
- Support the lab fabrication schedule by completing assigned tasks on time and communicating any delays or concerns to the Lab Manager promptly.
Compliance & Professional Development
- Comply with all infection control, safety, and laboratory compliance standards without exception.
- Participate in training and continuing education as directed by the Lab Manager to develop technical skills and advance within the lab team.

Education & Qualifications
Required Experience
- No prior dental lab experience required โ this is a trainee-level entry point.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and case handling.
- Ability to follow detailed protocols and work effectively under direct supervision in a precision-focused environment.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; enrollment in or completion of a dental laboratory technology program preferred.
Preferred:
- Prior exposure to a dental laboratory, clinical, or technical fabrication environment.
- Basic familiarity with dental materials, impression techniques, or CAD/CAM concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organization in a fast-paced setting.
