Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the construction permitting process for houses, model homes, and construction offices/trailers, including tracking weekly status of reviews at municipalities.
  • Order lot specific plan sets from various sources as needed and review plans for accuracy.
  • Assemble and mark-up plans for permitting, field staff, and subcontractors.
  • Order and review plot plans for permitting.
  • Review and process sales paperwork/change orders relating to permitting for new specs and sold houses and resolve issues when required.
  • Coordinate ARB submittals and approvals and resolve issues as needed.
  • Create weekly start packages.
  • Prepare check requests for permits and pay re-inspection fees.
  • Order liens.
  • Update weekly the Starts Report, JD Edwards, and various other permit tracking reports.
  • Order and review Truss packages for permitting as needed.
  • Maintain document management and filing system for the department to ensure availability of documentation, letters, forms and files as required.
  • Performs additional tasks or projects as requested by the Plans and Permit Manager or VP of Construction.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in homebuilding or construction industry required.
  • Experience reading and reviewing construction plans.
  • Experience reading and reviewing plot plans highly desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to assist in the processing of departmental workflow.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills for interaction with a variety of people in and outside of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented aptitude to coordinate several activities simultaneously.
  • Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail along with problem solving skills.
