The posted compensation range of $18.97 - $32.19 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. As our Perioperative Scheduler, you will coordinate surgical and anesthesia procedures in alignment with established guidelines, ensuring efficient use of available resources. You will obtain and update patient and procedural information, print and distribute schedules, and maintain relevant statistical data, all while performing computer data entry and retrieval.

Every day, you will uphold strong interpersonal and customer service skills, facilitating seamless communication between patients, providers, and the surgical team. Your attention to detail and commitment to comprehensive scheduling will be crucial for delivering a positive patient experience.

To be successful in this role, you will bring excellent organizational abilities, a collaborative mindset, and a strong dedication to ensuring safe, timely surgical care aligned with our mission and values.

Coordinates surgical and pre-admissions testing case schedule for the perioperative surgery department. Assigns anesthesia in accordance with patient, surgeon, and insurance needs. Prints and distributes schedules.

Obtains pertinent information needed to properly schedule surgical procedures, preventing delays and equipment conflicts.

Makes sound judgment when scheduling complex, highly technical, and/or exploratory procedures that may require extra time, staff, equipment, or be a potential for medical complications and create delays in the schedule if not properly scheduled.

Manages the issues encountered when daily operational changes take place (add-ons, delays, emergencies, etc.). Able to multi-task and work under pressure.

Communicates in a timely fashion and functions as liaison with patients, physicians, physician office staff, anesthesia, surgery departments, Health Information Management, and other departments within the system in a professional manner.

Effectively schedules procedures in an effective manner utilizing resources available and keeping delays to a minimum.

Required:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D
  • Three (3) years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Preferred:

  • Previous surgical scheduling experience
