Job description

ServiceLink is seeking a hands-on Performance Engineer who owns our performance testing discipline from strategy through execution. Our platform runs on Microsoft Azure, and our engineering teams ship continuously — this role ensures every major release is validated for scale, reliability, and speed before it reaches production.

You are the subject-matter authority on performance engineering across the organization. That means owning the load test framework, driving VuGen script quality, running LoadRunner Controller and Enterprise test cycles, and translating results into engineering action. You'll also embed performance validation into CI/CD pipelines and mentor the engineers around you.

Success here looks like every critical user journey having a published performance baseline, engineering teams that trust the data, and a release process where performance is never an afterthought.

ServiceLink is modernizing the mortgage services industry through AI-accelerated engineering, intelligent automation, and next-generation software delivery practices. We empower the nation's top lenders and financial institutions with advanced technology, data-driven insights, and high-velocity product development models.  We're not just evolving legacy workflows — we're redefining how software is designed, built, tested, and deployed. Generative AI, autonomous systems, and continuous delivery are core to how we operate. Innovation isn't optional here — it's the expectation.  If you're passionate about transforming engineering organizations and operationalizing performance engineering at enterprise scale, you'll thrive at ServiceLink.

This is a hybrid role, and will be required to work in-office at our Plano, TX office at least 3 days per week.  Candidates must be located within reasonable commuting distance of Plano, TX and be willing to work in-office on a regular basis.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

In this role, you will…

OPERATING MODEL (EXPECTED TIME SPLIT)

  • Design, script, execute, and analyze load tests; maintain the LoadRunner/VuGen framework; integrate performance gates into pipelines70% hands-on engineering:
  • Performance strategy, script reviews, mentoring engineers, architecture guidance on NFRs, tooling roadmap20% technical leadership:
  • Performance reports, stakeholder findings presentations, documentation, and release readiness sign-off10% enablement and communication

OUTCOMES YOU OWN

  • Every critical user journey has a documented performance baseline maintained across release cycles
  • LoadRunner and VuGen scripts are production-quality, reusable, and version-controlled — not one-off runs
  • Performance test execution is integrated into CI/CD pipelines with automated pass/fail quality gates
  • Engineering teams receive clear, actionable performance reports — not raw metrics dumps
  • Performance bottlenecks are identified and escalated before production impact, not after
  • Deployment frequency and mean time to performance remediation improve measurably quarter over quarter

Performance Engineering Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and own the enterprise performance engineering strategy, methodology, and governance framework across all platforms and engineering squads
  • Establish performance testing standards, VuGen scripting guidelines, and test design patterns for distributed, microservices-based, and cloud-native applications
  • Serve as the primary technical authority on performance engineering — advising architects, developers, and SREs on non-functional requirements, performance budgets, and capacity planning
  • Build and lead a center of excellence for performance testing, mentoring and upskilling engineers in load test design, VuGen scripting, and results analysis
  • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align performance benchmarks with business SLAs and user experience targets

Load Test Design, VuGen Scripting & Execution

  • Architect and implement end-to-end performance test strategies: load testing, stress testing, soak/endurance testing, spike testing, and capacity modeling
  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced VuGen scripts using C-based scripting for a wide range of protocols:
  • HTTP/HTML with full manual and automatic correlation
  • Web Services — REST and SOAP with parameterization and dynamic token handling
  • TruClient for rich browser-based and single-page applications
  • SAP GUI, Citrix, Java over HTTP, and multi-protocol hybrid scenarios
  • Build reusable, parameterized, and correlation-ready VuGen scripts that accurately simulate complex user journeys and multi-step business workflows
  • Configure and manage LoadRunner Controller scenarios — Vuser groups, pacing, think times, rendezvous points, and runtime settings for realistic load simulation
  • Execute and monitor test runs using LoadRunner Controller and LoadRunner Enterprise (formerly Performance Center), managing on-premises and Azure-hosted load generators
  • Leverage Azure Load Testing and LoadRunner Cloud for elastic, scalable load injection where applicable

Performance Analysis, Reporting & Optimization

  • Conduct deep-dive performance analysis using LoadRunner Analysis, correlating application-level metrics with infrastructure telemetry to pinpoint bottlenecks
  • Analyze and interpret key performance indicators: response time (percentile distributions), throughput (TPS/RPS), concurrent user capacity, error rates, and resource utilization
  • Produce executive and engineering-level performance test reports with clear findings, trend analysis, risk assessments, and prioritized remediation recommendations
  • Establish and maintain performance baselines and regression thresholds for critical user journeys; track performance trends across release cycles
  • Collaborate with development, DBA, and infrastructure teams to resolve performance defects — covering application code, database query plans, API gateway configuration, caching strategies, and infrastructure sizing

CI/CD Integration & Shift-Left Performance Testing

  • Integrate LoadRunner and complementary tools into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) with automated quality gates and pass/fail reporting
  • Define quality gates and automated pass/fail criteria based on SLA thresholds, baseline regression limits, and NFR targets
  • Champion a shift-left performance culture — embedding NFR reviews and early-stage load testing into sprint ceremonies and architecture reviews
  • Develop and maintain performance test environments, data sets, and synthetic load profiles that accurately represent production traffic patterns
