Join Our Food & Nutrition Services Team

At St. Joeseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, IL our Food Service team plays an important role in creating a positive experience for patients, visitors, and staff every day.

We are currently hiring dependable and customer-focused individuals for Full Time, Part Time, and Per Diem Food Service positions across a variety of shifts.

Available Shift Options

We are hiring for multiple schedules, including:

  • Day Shift

  • Evening Shift

  • Overnight Shift

  • Weekend Shift Opportunities

Flexible scheduling options may be available based on department needs.

Position Summary

  • Responsible for preparing meals to order, catering and batch cooking for patients, visitors and staff.

Principal Accountabilities

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred

Licenses and Certification

  • Within 30 days of hire:
    • Food Service Managers Certification (SJMH only)
    • Food Service Handlers Certification (MHC, HH, HMC, Cancer Institute)
    • Food Allergens Certification

Experience and Skills

  • Technical Experience: 6 months, preferred

Physical Activities

  • Intermittent hand manipulation required
  • Intermittent lifting and carrying of 50 pounds
  • Required to stand for periods of up to 4 hours

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Maintains clean work area following all safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Enters and reports cash transactions.
  • Adjusts meals to meet the needs of the patient while following doctor's orders
  • Keeps all work areas adequately stocked with food, condiments, beverages and service ware.
  • Washes dishes and utensils following Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines in all actions.
  • Delivers and retrieves trays using required patient identifiers in all interactions.
  • Attractively and accurately assembles patient trays.
  • Follows established portion control guidelines when serving food and beverages
  • Responsible for service to retail operations.
  • Prepares meals using approved food sanitation practices
  • Sweeps and mops floors using approved methods.

Compensation (Commensurate with experience):

$15.50 - $23.25
