The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience, be comfortable working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team, and be proficient in both imaging workflows and front- and back-office clinical support. This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented, compassionate professional who can balance technical radiographic tasks with the interpersonal aspects of patient care, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
What You'll Do
  • Perform limited radiographic examinations in accordance with provider orders, department protocols, and applicable state regulations
  • Prepare patients for X-ray procedures, verifying patient identity, explaining exams, and ensuring comfort and safety throughout the process
  • Position patients correctly and adjust equipment to obtain diagnostic-quality images while minimizing radiation exposure
  • Operate and maintain X-ray equipment, following established imaging techniques, safety measures, and quality control procedures
  • Verify orders and document imaging procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) and imaging systems
  • Assist providers with clinical examinations and procedures, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and updating medical histories
  • Perform medical assisting tasks such as administering medications per protocol and scope, preparing injections, and assisting with minor in-office procedures under provider supervision
  • Handle front- and back-office medical assisting duties, including scheduling support, retrieving prior records, processing referrals, and managing patient flow
  • Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens according to protocol and infection control standards
  • Maintain exam rooms and imaging areas in a clean, stocked, and ready-for-use condition, including inventorying and ordering supplies as needed
  • Follow infection prevention and control protocols, including appropriate use of PPE and equipment sanitization between patients
  • Support patient education by providing clear instructions on procedures, follow-up care, and preparation for imaging or lab tests
  • Triage patient concerns within scope and escalate clinical issues appropriately to providers or nursing staff
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations, HIPAA, and all organizational policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with radiology, clinical, and administrative staff to optimize workflow and provide efficient, patient-centered care
  • Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and quality improvement activities within the X-Ray department

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a Limited X-ray Technologist and/or Medical Assistant in an outpatient or clinical setting
  • Current, valid Limited X-ray Technologist (XRT) license or certification as required by state regulations
  • Formal training and certification as a Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent), as required by employer or state guidelines
  • Demonstrated proficiency with core medical assisting duties, including vital signs, rooming, injections, specimen collection, and exam support
  • Solid working knowledge of basic radiographic positioning, exposure techniques, patient safety, and radiation protection principles
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) and basic computer applications
  • Ability to work on an hourly, per diem basis with a flexible schedule, including potential evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English, with the ability to explain procedures and instructions clearly to patients and families
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple patients and responsibilities
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to clinical and safety protocols
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and assist patients as needed for positioning and clinical care, with or without reasonable accommodation
