What to Expect:

In this role you will:

  • Work with the Product Owner and Squad members to design, develop, test, configure, upgrade, and maintain Fortinet and Checkpoint Firewalls with virtual instances (VDOM/VSX) in line with the agreed requirements
  • Work with team to implement and operate your solutions
  • Deploy infrastructure and network software according to change management processes
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers following DevOps/Agile principles and best practices
  • Assist in developing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Interact and collaborate with other internal teams to ensure excellent customer satisfaction
  • Handle issues always focusing on continuous improvement: you will automate, educate and share knowledge transparently.
  • Opportunity to develop yourself and others in a true DevOps agile environment.
  • This position is mission critical and offers flexible work (min. 2 days onsite and max. 3 days from home/per week)
  • Weekend deployment activities and on-call on a rotational basis with peer team members (Estimated: One Saturday out of 4 weekends)

Required technical skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field. Or equivalent work experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in a technical operational support area
  • Hands-on experience with Fortinet and Checkpoint Firewalls or similar technologies
  • Hand-on experience with Firewall management platforms Forti Manager, Forti Analyzer, Checkpoint Smart-1
  • Familiarity with security policy management tools like Algosec Security Management System
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN and Zero Trust
  • Capable of troubleshooting complex network flows, interconnectivity, performance and configuration issues
  • Provisions/executes firewall requests in accordance with security policies and standards on all environments.
  • Familiarity with concepts like Zero Touch/Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
  • Scripting in Shell, Ansible, Python or Perl
  • Familiarity with Ansible automation platform to automate tasks
  • Familiarity with source code repository like Git, Bitbucket

  • Contribute, plan and execute Firewall product roadmap/evolution - upgrades and new features
  • Independently deploy a new infrastructure/environment i.e. from High Level Design to Detailed Design to Deployment
  • Identifies problems and inefficiencies within our network and organizational workflows and assists with any recommended remediation/ changes to correct (example: script and automate routine tasks)
  • Participate in the evaluation of new network technologies
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence and ServiceNow tools for collaboration
  • Knowledge/experience operating in Linux operating system
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline and Automation technologies for build and deployment - Ansible, Jenkins

The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position in Virginia is $101,000 USD Annual MINIMUM to $150,000 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Our compensation packages include a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity for all employee's contingent on personal and company performance.
