Job Description
Out of Print, a division of Penguin Random House, seeks an Associate Marketing Director to manage sales, consumer, and brand marketing initiatives across its product line. The Associate Director will collaborate with our product development and sales teams to help create marketing strategies and plans, manage goals and priorities for marketing our merchandise, and maximize revenue through targeted account-facing programs. In addition, the Associate Marketing Director will manage the Out of Print social media and work with website teams to align with their efforts.
Out of Print's mission is to celebrate the joy of reading by creating high-quality, stylish apparel and accessories. Designed with readers in mind, our products feature iconic book-related artwork and literary references to delight book lovers of all ages. Our shirts, totes, socks, and accessories allow readers to wear their favorite stories and share their love of reading with the world.
Operating across a varied portfolio of licenses, categories, and products, the Associate Director collaborates with the Merchandise Director as a key bridge between Sales and Out of Print, and manages the creation of materials and account marketing assets that impact sell-in.
The Associate Director plays a driving role in planning product launches with sales, both new and backlist, as well as providing direction for the marketing and advertising campaigns. The Associate Director will manage our social media team in its efforts to support the Out of Print brand. In addition, the Associate Director will, at times, be involved in creating marketing plans for acquisition pitches for new licenses and products.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Creating marketing strategies, priorities, and plans for Out of Print product lines and licenses
  • Collaborating with and managing team of designer/photo marketers and social media staff to execute plans
  • Reviewing sales materials and working with product and acquisitions staff to ensure that products are positioned to best maximize sales opportunities and merchandising
  • Liaising between sales and collaborating with Director of Merchandise to set agendas, and prepare presentations for seasonal sales meetings, as well as spearheading follow-up on action items
  • Managing staff who handles ensuring that all sales assets and materials - sell sheets, mockups, platform slides, etc. are available for reps for sales calls
  • Working closely with consumer insights, sales directors, and publishing to highlight backlist opportunities and strategizing on how to best drive account marketing and consumer awareness

Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience developing, managing, and executing integrated marketing campaigns, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across sales, creative, product development, and other cross-functional teams, and partnering with external collaborators, licensors, agencies, and strategic partners to bring initiatives from concept through execution and achieve business goals.
  • People management experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail, the ability to prioritize, and strong follow-up skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Proven ability to create strong, integrated campaigns including paid media and social media strategies
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and effectively problem solve
  • Collaborative-minded with the inclination to build strong relationships across departments
  • Solutions-focused when met with challenges and can comfortably adapt to changes
  • Avid reader and pop culture minded individual who keeps up with trends and has an abiding interest in book & reading lifestyle

Additional Information
The salary range for this position is $83,000 to $93,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
This hybrid position has occasional in-office responsibilities, including but not limited to in-office meetings, sales meetings, conventions, events, and weekly marketing projects meetings . We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA)
