What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Strategic Sourcing Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Strategic Sourcing Manager, you need expertise in procurement, cost analysis, contract negotiation, and a relevant degree such as supply chain management or business administration. Familiarity with sourcing platforms, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and procurement certifications like CPSM or CIPS is typically expected. Strong analytical thinking, negotiation skills, and the ability to build relationships are crucial soft skills in this role. These capabilities ensure efficient supplier management, cost savings, and successful implementation of sourcing strategies that support organizational goals.

How does a part-time Strategic Sourcing Manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams while managing a reduced schedule?

A part-time Strategic Sourcing Manager often works closely with procurement, finance, operations, and legal teams to develop and execute sourcing strategies, even within a limited schedule. Effective communication and prioritization are key, as the manager needs to ensure alignment on supplier selection, contract negotiations, and cost-saving initiatives. Many organizations facilitate this collaboration through regular virtual meetings, shared project management tools, and clear delegation of responsibilities. The role may also require flexibility to attend critical meetings or respond to urgent sourcing needs outside of regular hours.

What does a Part Time Strategic Sourcing Manager do?

A Part Time Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies to optimize an organization’s supply chain, but on a part-time schedule. Their duties often include analyzing supplier markets, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and finding cost-saving opportunities. By working part-time, they may focus on key projects, provide expertise on specific sourcing initiatives, or support teams during peak periods. This role is ideal for organizations that need strategic procurement expertise without a full-time commitment.

What is the difference between Part Time Strategic Sourcing Manager vs Procurement Specialist?

AspectPart Time Strategic Sourcing Manager
Primary FocusDeveloping sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, cost reduction
