Job description


Apogee Solutions, a woman-owned small business, is seeking a Compliance and Metrics Specialist in San Antonio, TX to support the Air Force Medical Command (AFMEDCOM). Qualified candidates must be a US Citizen able to pass a Tier 1 background check.

The Compliance and Metrics Specialist oversees the collection, analysis, and interpretation of program data from all available sources to identify trends and prepare clear, concise reports and presentations for senior leadership. AFMEDCOM provides operational medical capability through appropriate organization, training, and equipping of medical forces to be organic components of the warfighting force.

The Compliance and Metrics Specialist will:

  • Lead all compliance monitoring activities, developing a thorough understanding of applicable regulations to conduct regular audits and assessments of MTF programs.
  • Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and drive process improvements in data collection and program efficiency.
  • Provide direct support to all 76 MTFs in the execution of their local DES programs, to include providing consultative assistance on the use of all compliance monitoring platforms—such as the IDES Performance Report (IDPR), Veterans Tracking Application (VTA) Data Quality Tool, MEB Quality Assurance Program (QAP), and the AFPC Case Return Rate—for self-assessment.
  • Ensure MTFs understand key performance indicators, such as the 180-day DES timeline goal outlined in DoDM 1332.18, V1, Table 1, and assist in developing mitigation plans to correct identified deficiencies.
  • Conduct formal Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs) for lower-performing MTFs to evaluate program compliance, to include developing pre-visit checklists and delivering a comprehensive After-Action Report (AAR) with findings and recommendations.
  • Develop and manage mechanisms to track, trend, and analyze DAF DES performance metrics, acting as a liaison with the AFPC Disability Operations Quality Assurance office to resolve performance issues, to include managing the MEB Quality Assurance Program (QAP) by reviewing cases returned by the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) and compiling results.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of and ensure compliance with all governing regulations, including current DoD, VA, DAF, and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) requirements.

Required Experience

  • US Citizen with the ability to pass a Tier 1 background check
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study such as management, business, or healthcare administration, or other relevant healthcare specialties such as health information management, or nursing management OR an additional 4 years of direct experience
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the military health care environment, possessing an in-depth knowledge of the AFMS organization, mission, and operations gained through Healthcare Operations, Health Information Management, or Health Information Systems activities
  • 5 years’ experience working directly within the DoD Disability Evaluation System (DES) or as a PEBLO
  • 5 years’ experience in the creation, storage, and retrieval of data in DAF and Military Health Service systems
  • In-depth knowledge of the DES process and DoD DES guidelines through prior experience creating training materials, user guides, or similar instructional documents
  • Supervisory experience is highly preferred
