Summary
About the Position: Serves as a Medical Evaluation Board Assistant within a Medical Treatment Facility, responsible for coordinating and carrying out theadministrative functions that support the Medical Evaluation Board process.

Duties
Help
  • Perform administrative processing, coordination, and tracking of all actions required for Soldiers undergoing evaluation throughthe Army Disability Evaluation System.
  • Develop macro enabled spreadsheets to update, revise, and retrieve information for routine and special reporting requirements.
  • Request medical records and searches for misplaced records to ensure availability for patient care and Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) processing.
  • Serve as a patient liaison between Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) staff and physicians at other Department of Defense medical facilities requesting specialty care in support of the MEB process.

  • This position is subject to TDY or business travel requirements to various locations. This may require travel via privately owned vehicles, commercial transport platforms, and/or military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical annually and thereafter.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) certification within six (6) months of employment

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing an automated medical database, researching established policies, and procedures; providing guidance related to medical case process; AND preparing routine correspondence, processing mail, and updating tracking logs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
