Job description

Tucked along the coast of Castine, Maine, Nautilus Island offers a rare opportunity to work and live in one of the most peaceful, scenic settings imaginable. We're looking for a dedicated Housekeeper to join our island team and help create a warm, well-cared-for home. If you take pride in doing things right and enjoy being part of a team, we'd love to meet you.
Position Overview:
  • Location: Nautilus Island - Castine, Maine
  • Schedule: 6 days per week, day off may vary

What You Can Expect:
  • A Balanced Team: You will be working alongside a Chef, Landscaper, and Island Caretaker to ensure the guests receive the best service, and the house is well kept.
  • Accommodations: While on the island, staff will have their own house to stay in that is separate from the main estate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Laundry and household cleaning
  • Ensuring a clean and well-organized living space
  • Some meal preparation
  • Change and launder linens, towels, and bedding
  • Maintain organization of closets, storage areas, and household supplies
  • Monitor and restock household supplies; report shortages to the property manager
  • Prepare the home for owner or guest arrivals and departures
  • Care for fine furnishings and decor with appropriate cleaning methods
  • Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed

Requirements:
  • Organized, reliable, and proactive
  • Experience in housekeeping, cooking, and gardening preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests and contractors
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and efficiently
  • Comfortable with boat travel to/from the island as part of the role
  • Physically able to perform cleaning tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting
