Overview:

The Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Technician is responsible for diagnosing, inspecting, adjusting, repairing, and preparing recreational vehicles (RVs), including travel trailers, for delivery. This role ensures all units meet quality standards and are 100% complete before being handed over to customers. Responsibilities may include work on gas, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing, chassis/towing systems, generators, appliances, and interior features.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Delivery Inspections & Repairs:

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-delivery inspections with detailed repair order documentation.

  • Diagnose and repair propane, electrical, hydraulic, and plumbing systems in RVs.

  • Perform general repairs and parts installations to ensure trailer readiness.

  • Utilize manuals, catalogs, and digital resources to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

  • Execute minor carpentry, appliance repair, and hitch installations.

Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Ensure each unit is 100% complete before delivery.

  • Confirm repairs meet company quality standards and safety requirements.

  • Document all work performed in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

Tool & Equipment Handling:

  • Operate various hand and power tools for installations and repairs.

  • Maintain organized work areas and properly care for tools and equipment.

Customer Readiness:

  • Prepare units for customer walkthroughs by ensuring cleanliness and operational functionality.

  • Collaborate with delivery and service teams to meet delivery timelines.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other related tasks as directed by the supervisor or service manager.

  • Remain adaptable and available for weekend work as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6+ months’ experience in RV, automotive, or carpentry repair.

  • Strong knowledge of construction/carpentry practices.

  • Electrical systems experience required.

  • Experience with hitch installations and brake control systems preferred.

  • Familiarity with propane systems and appliance troubleshooting.

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical instructions and diagrams.

  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and diagnostics.

  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.

  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, handle tools, and communicate clearly.

  • Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Must regularly lift up to 10 lbs, frequently lift up to 15 lbs, and occasionally lift 25–50 lbs.

  • Visual abilities must include close, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to work in outdoor or non-climate-controlled environments.

  • Noise level is typically moderate.
