Job description

Riverview Health Rehab is seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator for a part-time position, on-site at the main office in Bingham Farms. 

Position Summary

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for employees while ensuring compliance with company policies, wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and benefit deductions. This role supports employees and leadership by maintaining payroll records, responding to payroll inquiries, and assisting with reporting and audits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Payroll Processing

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Review and verify timecards, attendance records, wage changes, and payroll adjustments.
  • Calculate overtime, shift differentials, retroactive pay, bonuses, and other earnings.
  • Process deductions including taxes, benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions.
  • Ensure payroll data is entered and maintained accurately within payroll and HRIS systems.
  • Audit payroll reports prior to final processing to identify discrepancies or errors.

Compliance & Recordkeeping

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
  • Maintain payroll files and records according to retention requirements.
  • Support payroll-related audits and reporting requests.

Reporting & Administration

  • Generate payroll reports for leadership, finance, and HR teams.
  • Assist with system testing, payroll updates, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and department managers regarding payroll changes and corrections.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred; or equivalent related work experience
  • Previous payroll, accounting, HR, or administrative experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, wage laws, and payroll tax practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and office software.
