Job Overview

We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join our newly established Total Rewards team in Milwaukee, WI (South Harbor)! At Komatsu, our Total Rewards team supports North America in various areas including payroll, onboarding, offboarding, leave management, reporting, compensation, benefits, HRIS, and HR analytics. This role will provide foundational skills in payroll administration with potential for career advancement within each key area of the team. The ideal candidate will enjoy working cross-functionally between human resources, benefits, and the business, and will be adaptable to meet the evolving needs of the day.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Confirm data changes via automated process for employee changes such as new hires, terminations, & pay changes
  • Computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions and processing terminations
  • Update/Process employee earnings and deductions and miscellaneous payroll entries using payroll system, UKG
  • Perform historical corrections on employee time records within the Workforce Management (WFM) system to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and labor regulations.
  • Processing weekly, bi-weekly and/or monthly payrolls for assigned employee groups
  • Analysis of payroll data toensure error free processing
  • Payroll support on garnishments and levies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Human Resources and Employee Benefits, as well as other business units throughout the United States
Qualifications/Requirements
  • High-school diploma (or equivalent) required, Associates level degree preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in Payroll or Finance
  • Must possess strong Customer service and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability toread, comprehend and follow verbal instructions and ability to perform basic arithmetic and payroll calculations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment, manage high volume, repetitive daily tasks, and be highly adaptable
  • Proven success with tasks requiring high level of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Able to handle difficult situations with patience. Confidence in interacting with employees at all levels of the organization, both vertically and horizontally
  • Willingness to learn:
    • the importance of payroll processes and procedures
    • federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines
    • payroll tax laws, HR laws, garnishment laws, and HR Policies
  • Basic Excel skills required withthe willingness to broaden Excel skills to advanced
  • Basic understanding of the importance of Labor Unions within an organization and commitment to learning the nuances to ensure pay is accurate
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems
