Job description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Payroll Director, the Payroll Assistant is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day administration and acting as backup for the entire payroll process. The Payroll Assistant is expected to assist with processing of payroll, verify employee timecards within deadline, assist with reporting, and research payroll inquiries, while maintaining the confidentiality of payroll information and complying with all federal and state legal requirements. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, hard-working, detail oriented and possess a high level of business ethics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify daily logs with timecards and document any discrepancies and/or issues with payroll clerk and payroll director

  • Communicate with employee to address any issues/concerns and assist payroll clerk with identifying or resolving the issue

  • Generate and assist with payroll reports

  • Upload documents and updates to electronic platforms

  • Contact employees through all avenues (call/text/email)

  • Follow up with missing timecards and/or daily logs until documentation is submitted

  • Accessibility to employees during payroll process

  • Complete various projects, as needed

  • Work Hours: Variable (depending on payroll/payday schedule); 40 hours a week

  • Location: Goodyear, AZ office

KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Payroll experience required

  • Flexibility with working weekends and holidays

  • Ability to be creative, proactive, and sensitive in solving consumer's problem and complex issues

  • Must possess strong administrative and organizational skills; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel andPowerPoint

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal across all areas

  • Proficiency with various HR/Payroll software

  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification

  • Valid Class "C" Driver's License and Valid Auto Insurance

EDUCATION:

  • BA/BS in Human Resources or related field preferred

  • 3 years' experience in the field of Payroll or related field
