Overview

FNF Construction, Inc., a MasTec CE&I company is hiring a Payroll Coordinator. This position is primarily responsible for assisting in the coordination and oversight of the weekly payroll process, as it relates to the timely and accurate data-entry and disbursement of a large, multi-state payroll. Additional responsibilities include acting as a main administrative contact for both the company's in-house benefit programs and bona fide fringe plans.

Responsibilities
  • Chief responsibility is to ensure timely payroll processing for the Company's employee groups on a weekly basis, including any potential follow-up with Field Personnel on payroll issues.
  • Utilizing the FNF Wage Decisions, this position will code and enter new hires/rehire payroll and leave data into Vista in a timely manner ensuring employees are set up properly and visible in the Time & Attendance system. Upkeep of any employee termination information.
  • Primary back-up for the certified payroll report (CPR) process and requirements for FNF.
  • Post-payroll: create and/or verify files and/or totals for 401K, ESPP, Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan, Pension contributions, employee benefits data for HCM, etc. Track and enter withholdings and calculate any missed deductions.
  • Assist the Payroll Director daily by researching requests for loans and distributions for the pension plan. Provide Auditors with annual recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Assist the Payroll Director during audit process. Assist with carrier portal updates of year-end testing data on the pension plan. Maintaining document repository needed for the audit process.
  • Assist in the coordination of the monthly Aetna enrollment process for the FNF Health & Welfare arrangement, to include producing both COBRA and Initial Notices. Weekly communication with Contractors Plan Trust regarding same. Assists HR Generalist with any requests for FMLA (Family and Medical Leave) by producing any required or requested notifications for hourly Field personnel not covered under parent-company's FMLA vendor services
  • Act as the primary contact for any employee concerns or questions related to pay or in-house benefit programs.
  • Coordinate child support, garnishment and unemployment information requests, wage audits, etc.
  • Processes child support and garnishments weekly based on State and Federal guidelines, communicates with law firms or credit agencies as needed. Process and track employee PRDs (payroll deductions), as needed. Prepare copies of required court documents post-payroll for dissemination to employees and law firm/collection agencies.
  • Assists the Payroll Director with monthly report preparation and any intra-company requests for information.
  • Acts as the primary administrator of the automated time & attendance system for crew creation and maintenance. Act as a back-up trouble shooter, when the NM Office Manager is unavailable to assist.
  • Track utilization and assist with the administration of in-house benefit programs to include: Employee Referrals, Gym Membership reimbursement, and Health & Wellness Initiative.
  • Assists the Payroll Director with special projects, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Certification in Payroll Administration, example: FPC (Fundamentals of Payroll Certification) through the American Payroll Association. Or the willingness to study and obtain certification.
  • Some college coursework to include the subjects of human resources and/or accounting would be helpful.
  • Must be flexible with weekly work schedule, as business needs dictate the need for overtime. Examples would be Monday - Wednesday during the main payroll process, holiday weeks, and/or as company converts to new Payroll system in 2027, as part of parent company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) process.
  • This is not a remote work position. It is fully onsite at Corporate Offices in Tempe, AZ

Work Experience Required

  • 3+ years of experience directly related to payroll coordinator-level responsibilities required in a high-volume, multi-state payroll department.
