Job description

Payroll Analyst

Compile, analyze, reviews and update data for accurate and timely execution of payroll. Support day-to-day payroll operations, including reconciliation, generation of reports and audits.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Payroll Analyst: Pay commensurate with experience.

Full-time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided.  Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Payroll Analyst Responsibilities Include: 

  • Reviews and analyzes regular and special off-cycle payrolls in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responds to inquiries via telephone and email; and escalates issues to leadership or technical resource as needed.
  • Researches data inconsistencies and recommends corrective actions.
  • Maintains organized and complete electronic files. 
  • Reviews and analyzes data entry and maintenance of information into payroll systems including employee work, pay, paid time off and time and attendance data.
  • Prepares and runs various payroll reports as requested.
  • Assists with researching payroll related laws and trends.
  • Identifies payroll system updates and impact to processes and assists in testing and implementation of updates.
  • Works on special projects. 
  • Assists team members with questions and training as needed.
  • Reviews and audits tax reconciliations and payroll processing prepared by peers.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and updates standard operating documents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Payroll Analyst Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 5 years of payroll experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPP or FCP certification is preferred.
  • Oracle Fusion payroll processing experience. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, strong administrative, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Reliable with a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and can prioritize responsibilities and tasks to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Personable, good listener and can effectively communicate with all staff and client types through both written and verbal means.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as a member of a larger team.
  • Willing and flexible to help with any urgent issues that happen to arise at the company, even if they are outside the immediate scope of the role.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel and payroll systems and tools.
  • Ability to work various hours based on payroll deadlines and needs.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
