Payments Representative

The Payments Representative plays a vital role in ensuring accurate, secure, and compliant deposit and payment operations. This position supports daily transaction processing while actively assisting with fraud prevention, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative, with working knowledge of ACH, share draft processing, and debit/credit card maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process ACH transactions, deposit items, adjustments, returns, drafts, and card service requests in accordance with policies and regulatory requirements
  • Support fraud detection and prevention efforts across ACH, digital banking, mobile/ATM deposits, and card activity using monitoring tools and reports
  • Review alerts, investigate suspicious activity, and collaborate with Risk, BSA, and external partners as needed
  • Assist with general ledger balancing, daily reports, audits, and quality control reviews
  • Provide service and support to members, branches, and internal teams; assist with training and act as backup for the Payments team
  • Maintain strong knowledge of credit union products, procedures, and applicable regulations including BSA, OFAC, and privacy laws

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of related financial services or operations experience (credit union experience preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to accuracy, security, confidentiality, and continuous process improvement
