Job description

Job Title: Patient Support Associate

Location: Monmouth Medical Center

Department Name: OR Environmental Services

Pay Range: $16.96 - $18.97 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Patient Support Associate is responsible for multiple functions including cleaning and maintaining all OR rooms, sub-sterile areas, and other areas within the department. The Patient Support Associate is also responsible for the inventory of supplies, and transporting patients to and from the department.

The Patient Support Associate will be crossed trained to perform assigned job duties in the main Operating Room and Ambulatory Surgery Center. Scheduling and assignment will be determined by perioperative staffing needs at the discretion of perioperative leadership.

Qualifications:

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of inventory control techniques
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Hospital housekeeping experience preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Monday-Friday with a requirement of 1 weekend per month and some holidays
  • Full time

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in cleaning emergency spills observed or upon request
  • Assists with patient positioning under the direction of the RN
  • Assists with patient preparation. Holds limbs as directed for surgical preparation.
  • Cleans OR suites following procedures; disposes used supplies appropriately
  • Dry and wet mops floors of rooms and offices; vacuums carpets
  • Empties waste baskets, removes trash
  • Transports equipment from ancillary storage locations to OR room
  • Maintains inventory levels on all housekeeping supplies; stocks supplies as required in locker rooms and rest rooms
  • Stocks OR attire to include hats, masks, shoe covers and warm up jackets prior to start of day
  • Stocks warmers with blankets, sheets and solutions, rotates solutions in warmer according to policy and procedure daily and as needed
  • Transports patients as needed
  • Transports specimens to Pathology as needed
