Job Title: Patient Monitor

Location: Main Hospital - New Brunswick

Department Name: Nursing Float Pool

Pay Range: $16.56 - $16.56 per hour

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Patient Monitor for our Sitter Unit, in our New Brunswick Facility.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, 40 hours per week (5 shifts per week), 7a-3:30p, includes every other weekend and some holidays.

Essential Functions:

• Complies with patient care decisions made by the professional staff and accepts responsibility for following instructions, fulfilling assignments and learning from feedback

• Follows all Suicidal Precautions and Close Observation monitoring policies and procedures

• Observes and reports patient’s conditions, behavior, and complaints to the nurse

• Maintains strict patient confidentiality

• Observes and applies appropriate interventions

• Maintains a safe and orderly work/patient care environment

• Assists patients with daily living activities (i.e.; feeding, dressing patients, showering/bathing).

• Transfers, escorts, transports, and ambulates patients

• Assures patients have correct ID bands

• Responds to emergencies in an appropriate manner

• Handles and disposes of infectious and hazardous materials per policies and procedures

• Maintains standards of behavior as established in the Organizational Ethics Codes of Conduct Policy

Patient Monitoring

• Maintains confidentiality of patient information

• Suicide Monitoring: Maintains safety of patients by remaining within an arms distance at all times

• Close Observations: maintains safety of close observation patients per policy

• Safe Patient Handling

• Effective use of Handle with Care Techniques
