Oribu Restaurant, the brand-new, design-forward dining destination inside the Grand Hyatt Washington, is looking for a creative Pastry Cook to join our opening team. This is your chance to be part of something fresh-building a standout dessert program from day one in a high-energy, elevated lunch and dinner concept. We're seeking someone who's equal parts artist and technician, with a love for bold flavors, beautiful presentation, and pushing classic pastry into modern territory. We are looking for someone that has flexibility to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
The hourly rate for this position is $23.22, increasing to $26.08 after six months.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare all food and baked items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
- Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set
- Ensure all ingredients are in stock and communicate ordering needs
- Understand and complete requisition sheets
- Demonstrate a high level of cleanliness in workstation and appearance
- Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers/freezers, and storage areas
- Watch for and identify spoilage in product
- Keep accurate temperature records
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:- Experience working in the pastry area of a professional kitchen is strongly preferred
- Refined verbal communication skills
- Understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
- A high sense of punctuality, accountability, willingness to learn, and professionalism
- Flexible availability to work any day including weekends and holidays
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to move quickly, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, push, pull, lift, etc.
