SMG seeks a Safety Advisor (Part-Time - 16 hours per month) - General Industry. - Los Angeles, CA
The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client's needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change and travel. The Associate in this role will work in a general industry environment. This role is 8-10 hours every other week (including local commute). The Advisor will travel to a client site and perform audits, assessments, trainings, etc. The schedule is flexible. The Advisor can pick the day they visit the client to perform these tasks. They will need to visit the client site on first shift, normal operating hours.
Overview of Job Responsibilities
  • Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis
  • Safety program and facility observations
  • Gap assessments
  • Provide Safety and Health Training
  • Provide incident management and support
  • Conduct New Hire Orientations and safety meetings
  • Provides incident management and support
  • Documentation and Report preparation
  • Conducts Contractor program reviews
  • Food/Pharma manufacturing preferred

Requirements
  • Five-plus years of general industry safety experience
  • A degree in safety or related fields is preferred
  • Experience reviewing safety plans and procedures
  • Experience reviewing JHA's
  • Previous experience in Food/Pharma manufacturing facilities is a plus
  • BCSP certification preferred - CSP, OHST, SMS
  • First-aid/CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association

Physical Demands of the job may include
  • Moving about long distances
  • Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
  • Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
  • Working in extreme weather
  • Being exposed to loud noises
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly
