IES Safety is seeking a knowledgeable, engaging, and motivated Industrial Safety & Emergency Response Trainer to deliver high-quality health, safety, and emergency response training to individuals and organizations across a variety of industries. The ideal candidate is passionate about workplace safety, experienced in one or more industrial emergency response disciplines, skilled in adult learning techniques, and capable of adapting instruction to meet the needs of diverse audiences. This position combines classroom instruction, hands-on field training, and client support to promote a strong culture of safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver instructor-led health, safety, and emergency response training programs for industrial and commercial clients.
  • Conduct OSHA-authorized 10- and 30-hour courses for General Industry and/or Construction (when certified).
  • Deliver training in one or more emergency response disciplines, including:
    • Industrial Firefighting
    • Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Response
    • Rope Rescue
    • Confined Space Rescue
    • Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
    • Other industrial emergency response programs as qualified
  • Ensure a positive, engaging, and effective learning experience for all participants.
  • Monitor student progress in instructor-led and self-paced courses, providing coaching and assistance as needed.
  • Ensure all training content complies with OSHA regulations, applicable NFPA standards, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, certification documentation, and course reports.
  • Assist with the development, review, and continuous improvement of training materials and course offerings.
  • Promote workplace safety awareness and foster a culture of compliance among clients.
  • Coordinate with the Training Manager regarding scheduling, client needs, and customized training solutions.
  • Stay current with regulatory changes, industry standards, instructional methods, and emerging safety trends.
  • Maintain training equipment and instructional materials in a safe and serviceable condition.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Emergency Services, Fire Science, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of industrial, construction, emergency response, or occupational safety experience.
  • Previous instructor, trainer, or teaching experience preferred.
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer certification (Construction and/or General Industry) preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Current certifications and/or demonstrated experience in one or more emergency response disciplines preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and workplace safety best practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, online learning platforms, and basic computer applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple classes, schedules, and client needs.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.

Preferred Certifications

Candidates possessing one or more of the following certifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • OSHA Outreach Trainer (General Industry and/or Construction)
  • Hazardous Materials Technician
  • Industrial Fire Brigade Instructor or Firefighter
  • Confined Space Rescue Technician
  • Rope Rescue Technician
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic
  • Incident Command System (ICS/NIMS) certifications
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor
  • Other relevant OSHA, NFPA, or emergency response certifications

Work Environment

  • Combination of classroom instruction, hands-on field exercises, and client-site training.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and demonstration of emergency response skills.
  • Travel to customer locations as needed.
  • Occasional evening and weekend training assignments may be required.
