Job description

Job#: 3030705
Job Description:
Apex Systems, a World-Class Technology Solutions Provider, is seeking applicants for the below position on behalf of our client. Please apply if interested and qualified. Please note that only qualified candidates will be contacted.
Job Title: Program Manager- Cybersecurity, IT Security, Risk and Governance
Location: Tampa, FL- onsite
Duration: 6-12 month Contract to hire
Rate: $65-75/hr
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Program Manager with a strong background in Cybersecurity, IT Security, or Enterprise Risk to lead complex, high-visibility initiatives in a highly regulated environment. This role requires a well-rounded technology foundation, the ability to bridge communication between business and technical stakeholders, and a decisive, solution-oriented mindset.
The ideal candidate brings prior consulting experience, operates with a PMBOK-based discipline, and is fully fluent in risk, issue, dependency, and milestone management as standard operating practice.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end program management for large, complex initiatives within Cybersecurity, IT Security, Risk, or related domains
  • Serve as the primary translator between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment, and actionable outcomes
  • Manage programs using PMBOK-based methodologies, including scope, schedule, cost, dependency, and milestone tracking
  • Own risk and issue management, with a clear distinction between the two:
    • Identify, assess, and document risks with defined owners and mitigation plans
    • Escalate issues appropriately and drive resolution
  • Define and manage program health indicators, including clear criteria for Green / Amber / Red status
    • Demonstrate sound judgment on when an initiative should move to "Amber" based on risk exposure, timelines, or delivery impacts
  • Prepare and deliver real-time executive-level PowerPoint materials, including:
    • Program status updates
    • Risk and issue summaries
    • Remediation and mitigation plans
  • Operate comfortably within a policy-driven, governance-heavy, highly regulated environment
  • Drive solutions and make timely decisions - not just surface problems
  • Hold teams accountable for deliverables, ownership, and execution
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Program Manager within Cybersecurity, IT Security, Technology Risk, or related technology domains
  • Strong foundational IT knowledge across systems, infrastructure, applications, and security (depth not required; breadth is critical)
  • Prior consulting experience (any firm; industry-agnostic)
  • Demonstrated success managing initiatives in highly regulated environments (e.g., finance, healthcare, government, utilities, or similar)
  • Expert-level experience in:
    • Risk vs. issue identification and management
    • Dependency and milestone tracking
    • Governance and documentation standards
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills, with ability to build and update materials live in real time
  • Clear, confident communicator who can influence both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Decisive, solution-oriented approach to problem solving
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP or formal PMBOK-aligned program management training
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale transformation or remediation initiatives
  • Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks, compliance, or risk governance models
