The Office of Entrepreneurship, the first of its kind at a Governor's office nationwide, connects people, ideas, and resources across Nevada.

Our goal is to reduce barriers, strengthen programs, and identify regional challenges to help more Nevadans start and grow their businesses. The Office is part of the agency's Innovation-Based Economic Development (IBED) division. IBED's mission is to enhance Nevada's national and global competitiveness in a knowledge-driven economy through fostering regional entrepreneurial driven innovation systems.

Attract and grow technology-based companies in our state. IBED's vision is to be the state's lead entity for supporting the translation of basic research into useful market-based applications at Nevada's universities, growing entrepreneurial and startup development, attracting and providing risk capital to startups and early-stage high-growth companies, while developing innovative solutions for the recruitment of a workforce into high demand occupations within Nevada's key industry sectors. This exciting and rewarding position operates at the forefront of Nevada's startup and entrepreneurial ecosystems and stands to support several key federal and state programs and initiatives.

In this role you will be connecting the The Office of Entrepreneurship and the Innovation Based Economic Development Division with leading ecosystem stakeholders, such as entrepreneurial support organizations, startups, universities etc., as well as performing connectivity across the system. The role also involves enabling and enforcing key initiatives and programs led by the Office and the Division. The Office aims to be a national leader in how states support entrepreneurship by testing new models, piloting solutions, and modernizing economic development practices

The goal is for Nevada to serve as a benchmark for other states. The role entails providing connections across the entrepreneurship's main stakeholders, which includes but is not limited to other state agencies, regional strategic partners, non-profits, universities, seed- and venture investors and funds. The goal is that each ecosystem is characterized by efficient collective, self-organizing behavior that lead to economic growth and prosperity.

This position will play a vital role in stimulating such activities. A broad array of expertise, cognitive diversity, and the ability to operate within multiple programs and initiatives simultaneously is required to achieve the full potential of this role. Job Duties This important position will inform strategic opportunities for community convening and engagement, according to GOED's innovation and economic development priorities, aid with IBED and the Office's mission and vision implementation, support the Office and the Division in efforts to increased participation in strategic state and federal programs. The position will aid in building out the innovation cycle continuum that offers entrepreneurs seamless transitioning from one stage to the next in the evolution of building and scaling their business, assist with technology translation system improvements, hence, past experience with technology-based startups and commercialization pathways is a plus, support the Office and the Division to strengthen Nevada's universities activities in translation of research to market applications, aid with the identification of obsolete and legacy approaches within respective entrepreneurial ecosystems and work with the Office to devise new and more effective solutions, and perform measurable new business development functions comprising both Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Innovation Driven Enterprises (IDEs) which will include building 'client book' and meet annually defined growth targets. The position will track and report ecosystem metrics, and maintenance of CRMs system, facilitate cooperation with GOED's other agency divisions such as communication, international and business development divisions in support of outreach efforts and event opportunities, and other duties as assigned.

The candidate should be proficient in the use of software applications (Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook and Internet), must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, quality work products, proactive follow-through, and the ability to prioritize work assignments and manage expectations. The candidate should be able to work independently while respecting the reporting line and be able to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment, and must be able to travel frequently within Nevada with occasional out of state travel
