Work Location & Schedule

This is a hybrid position based in our Augusta, GA office. Team members are expected to work on-site two days per week and remotely three days per week.

About the Role

The Software Development Manager is responsible for leading and supporting an engineering team that delivers critical capabilities for TaxSlayerโ€™s products. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and process ownership to ensure reliable delivery, strong engineering standards, and continuous improvement. The Software Development Manager works closely with cross-functional partners to align execution with organizational priorities and business objectives.

What Youโ€™ll Be Doing
  • Lead and support a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions through effective prioritization, technical guidance, and performance management.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Architecture, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable technical plans
  • Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight across full-stack systems using modern frameworks and cloud-native technologies
  • Ensure consistent delivery through agile best practices including sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and release management
  • Promote and enforce engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure development standards
  • Identify and mitigate technical, delivery, and resourcing risks
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and team capacity planning in alignment with organizational needs
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Consistent on-time delivery of committed sprint and release objectives
  • High code quality demonstrated by low defect rates, strong test coverage, and system stability

  • Strong expertise in modern full-stack development, including C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience with frontend frameworks such as React or Angular
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL) and familiarity with non-relational databases (e.g., Redis)
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps), and DevOps technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and software architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Strong communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to balance technical decision-making with people leadership and business priorities
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing software engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in financial services or tax software domains.
  • Familiarity with domain-driven design.
  • Knowledge of modern state management principles.
