JOB TITLE:           Special Assistant
DEPARTMENT:     East Asian Leadership Development Initiative
DIVISION:              Academic
SUPERVISOR:      East Asian Leadership Initiative Director

PAY RATE:            $14.15/hr

I. PURPOSE OF THE JOB  

To assist the Director of East Asian Leadership Initiative (EALI) in developing and maintaining the East 
Asian Leadership Initiative 
 

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Assist the Director in developing EALI relationships and other specific projects as needed. 
• Assist the Director in fundraising to support EALI projects and programs.  
• Assist the Director in the development and expansion of new and current EALI partnerships, projects, and programs. 
• Assist in facilitating communications with the current partnership organizations, networks, and councils. 
• Assist in planning and recruiting for EALI projects and events. 
• Assist with maintaining appropriate files, reports, and information for accreditation purposes. 
• Assist in the development and updating of East Asian Leadership Initiative materials, including promotional materials, in conjunction with our Communications Dept. as needed. 
• Translate materials, documents, and conversations as well as check translations by others as needed. 
• Interpret in conferences, meetings, or other events as needed. 
• Assist the retention of current students, making sure they register classes and complete their degrees. 
• Assist with developing content to highlight EALI projects and programs for the GTI newsletter. 
• Manage social networking opportunities and web presence related to the East Asian Leadership Development Initiative. 

III. OTHER DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES  

• Manage publishing East Asian Leadership Initiative and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary 
news on Korean Baptist Press and other Korean Baptist media. 
• Represent East Asian Leadership Initiative and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in various 
event such as but not limited to Korean Baptist Convention, conferences and retreats. 
• Additional responsibilities may be designated by the Director of EALI as needs arise.

V. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS  

• Ability to speak, write, and read English 
• Ability to speak, write, and read any other East Asian languages (optional) 
• Ability to follow through with assigned tasks. 
• Ability to interact well with various departments on campus and other personnel. 
• High competency in computer and telephone skills. 
• Competency with Learning, Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel). 
• Good working knowledge of social networking. 
• Ability to create and edit media content.

VII. EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT  

• Represent the seminary in local churches and some denominational and parachurch ministry settings 
• Communication with other seminary departments 
 

VIII. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT  

• Normal fitness as required for office duties
