What are part time voice over jobs?

Part time voice over jobs involve providing voice recordings for various projects such as commercials, audiobooks, animations, video games, and corporate videos on a flexible, non-full-time basis. These roles typically allow you to work from home or a studio, recording scripts as needed for clients. Part time positions are ideal for those looking to supplement their income, pursue voice work alongside other commitments, or gain experience in the industry without a full-time schedule.

Can you do voice acting as a part-time job?

Part-time voice over work is common and involves recording voice clips for commercials, animations, audiobooks, and more. It often requires a good microphone, voice acting skills, and the ability to meet deadlines, making it suitable for flexible schedules. Many voice actors work on a freelance basis, taking projects as their availability allows.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Voice Over artist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Voice Over artist, you need strong vocal control, clear diction, and the ability to interpret scripts, often supported by prior acting or vocal training. Familiarity with audio recording equipment, editing software (like Audacity or Adobe Audition), and sometimes a home studio setup is essential. Creativity, adaptability, and professionalism help you deliver diverse projects and work efficiently with clients or directors. These skills and qualities ensure you can consistently deliver high-quality audio that meets client expectations in competitive and fast-paced markets.

How do part-time voice over artists typically manage multiple projects and deadlines?

Part-time voice over artists often juggle several projects at once, which requires strong time management and organizational skills. Since assignments can range from commercials to e-learning modules, it's common to balance studio recording sessions with script preparation and editing. Consistent practice and a professional recording setup increase chances of landing jobs without prior experience.

How do you get hired for voice overs?

To get hired for a part-time voice over role, build a professional demo reel showcasing your vocal range and skills, then create profiles on voice acting platforms or freelance sites. Audition regularly, maintain good audio quality, and develop a versatile portfolio to attract clients and employers.

Job description

Location: Remote (USA) - Hybrid preferred in Charleston, SC
Schedule: Flexible hours
Engagement: PT, FT, Contract; equity possible for the right fit
About Heirloom
Heirloom helps families rescue, organize, and enjoy their most meaningful memories-converting tapes, film, and photos into a private, secure home for stories. We're building an empathetic brand that feels warm, trustworthy, and human.
The Role
We're searching for the voice of the Heirloom brand-a versatile storyteller who can deliver friendly, clear, and emotionally resonant reads across product tutorials, short-form videos, ads, onboarding flows, voicemail prompts, and customer education.
What You'll Do
  • Record short voiceovers (15-90 seconds) for product videos, social ads, explainer content, and in-app guidance.
  • Collaborate with content, design, and product to refine tone, pacing, and emphasis for different audiences.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice: warm, encouraging, plain-spoken, never salesy.
  • Provide clean, broadcast-quality audio with quick turnarounds and clear file naming.
  • (Optional) Partner with us on responsible voice-clone licensing for micro-edits and rapid updates.

What You'll Bring
  • Proven VO experience with consumer tech or education content (please include links).
  • Ability to perform natural, trustworthy, and compassionate reads; excellent diction and pacing.
  • Access to a treated recording space and pro gear; comfortable delivering print-ready WAV/MP3.
  • Strong collaboration: open to direction, fast iterations, and script tweaks.
  • Respect for privacy and empathy for older or non-technical users.

Nice to Have
  • Experience voicing product UI prompts or onboarding.
  • Comfort with pronouncing archival/media terms (VHS, Super 8, MiniDV, negatives).
  • Familiarity with brand guidelines and usage rights; willingness to discuss AI voice licensing.

How We Work
  • Flexible hours, outcome-focused.
  • Remote-friendly, with preference for hybrid collaboration in Charleston, SC for periodic sessions.
  • PT/FT/Contract all considered; contract-to-hire and equity are possible.

Please audition by attaching an MP3 to an email to people@heirloom.cloud.
State your name and say 1-2 sentences that you feel are true to Heirloom.
