Job description

Position Summary Perform functional and technical lead support for City Cisco Systems. Evaluate, configure, and maintain all elements of the City of Albuquerque's enterprise network Cisco Voice System. Provide comprehensive systems support over all Cisco network technologies supported by the city.

Ensure stability of the network, through effective design, standards, and ongoing maintenance. Key infrastructure supported includes Cisco Unified Communication Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Emergency Responder, Cisco Unified Contact Express, and other critical Cisco voice servers and applications. This is an unclassified at-will position.

Essential and Supplemental Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below.

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Configure and maintain Cisco Unified Communication Manager, Cisco Emergency Responder, Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, and other critical Cisco voice servers and applications. Design, develop and enforce standards for the voice network infrastructure system access, modification enhancement and replacement of system hardware and software.

Serve as lead for assigned voice network development and software implementation projects; evaluate and assess client needs; identify and recommend allocation of resources including staff, equipment and materials; set task priorities. Work with DTI network engineers to configure Cisco integrated service routers and multi layered switches to support voice operations. Troubleshoot and resolve complex voice issues, providing tier 2 and tier 3 support when necessary.

Monitor voice quality and analyze issues to ensure optimal performance. Create and maintain detailed documentation for voice solutions and deployments. This includes developing voice dial plans and documenting configurations and procedures.

Review, develop, and ensure compliance to standards for the voice network infrastructure system access, modification enhancement and replacement of system hardware and software. Collaborate with other IT professionals, project managers, and customers to ensure successful project execution and to enhance the overall voice infrastructure. Train other engineers and support staff on Cisco VoIP solutions, ensuring that the ream is well-equipped to handle voice technology.

Provide users and management with advisory and technical guidance and recommendations to improve voice operations, functionality, control, and overall support. Oversee and recommend quality assurance procedures for network information system services. Stay abreast of department ITIL processes and procedures, technologies, and project management.

Participate in the departments after hour rotation to provide out of hours support, when required. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Participate on a variety of boards, commissions and committees; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence.

2. Provide daily status reports to the Network Information Systems Manager and City Management as required. 3.

Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of voice and communication technologies. 4. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, or computer science; and Three (3) years' experience in large scale, enterprise network, VoIP or wireless communications. Possession of Cisco network certifications preferred ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Holidays, evenings, weekends, irregular flexible hours and shift work may be required with possible extension of shift hours at times with short notice. Working Conditions Environmental: Office and outdoor environments; exposure to computer screens, electrical energy; will be required to work at multiple worksites; inclement weather conditions; limited exposure to dust, grease, and noise. Physical: Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; extensive use of computer keyboard and computer display; travel from site to site, moderate to heavy lifting and movement of equipment; bending, stooping.
