Overview:
Senior SAP Functional HCM/Payroll Consultant - Remote role
12+ months
We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Functional HCM/Payroll Consultant with strong expertise in SAP HCM and Payroll to lead functional design, configuration, implementation, and support activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAP Human Capital Management, Payroll processing, Time Management, Organizational Management, Personnel Administration, Benefits, and integration with Finance and SuccessFactors. The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, design scalable solutions, support payroll operations, and lead end-to-end SAP HCM transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead SAP HCM and Payroll implementation, rollout, upgrade, and support projects.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into functional specifications.
  • Configure and support SAP modules including:
    • Personnel Administration (PA)
    • Organizational Management (OM)
    • Payroll
    • Time Management (PT)
    • Benefits Administration
    • Personnel Development (PD)
  • Configure payroll schemas, rules, wage types, PCRs, and payroll functions.
  • Support payroll processing activities including simulation, validation, reconciliation, and post-payroll activities.
  • Configure payroll control record, payroll areas, payroll periods, retroactive accounting, off-cycle payroll, garnishments, and tax processing.
  • Work closely with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, and Compliance teams.
  • Perform impact analysis for statutory and legislative payroll changes.
  • Prepare Functional Specifications for custom developments.
  • Coordinate with ABAP developers for enhancements, reports, interfaces, forms, and conversions.
  • Support integrations between SAP HCM and:
    • SAP FI/CO
    • SuccessFactors EC
    • Third-party Payroll providers
    • Tax engines
    • Time systems
    • Banking interfaces
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, UAT, and payroll parallel testing.
  • Support payroll year-end activities including W-2 processing and tax updates (US Payroll).
  • Provide production support and resolve payroll-related incidents within SLA.
  • Participate in data migration and payroll validation activities.
  • Create configuration documents, business process documents, training materials, and knowledge transfer documentation.
  • Mentor junior consultants and support project governance activities.

Required Qualifications

  • 8-15+ years of SAP HCM Functional experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of SAP Payroll implementation experience.
  • Multiple end-to-end SAP HCM implementation projects.
  • Strong experience with SAP ECC HCM and/or SAP S/4HANA HCM compatibility packs.
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors integration is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HR and Payroll business processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central integration experience.
  • Experience with SAP HCM Payroll Control Center (PCC).
  • Knowledge of Employee Central Payroll (ECP).
  • Experience with SAP Fiori applications for HCM.
  • SAP Activate methodology experience.
  • Agile/Scrum project experience.
  • SAP certification in HCM or Payroll is preferred.
