Job description

Eventide Williamsburg in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work 6a-6p. This schedule includes a weekend and holiday rotation; it is one weekday and every third weekend.

The Registered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) enhances the living experience for Eventide's Seniors/residents/clients by performing various prescribed medical treatment and personal care services under the direction of the physician supporting the medical plan of care and meeting the written comprehensive care plan objectives, while functioning within the appropriate scope of practice.
Essential Functions
  1. Follows through on physician's orders in accordance with Eventide's policies and procedures. If appropriate, receives and records physician's orders.
  2. Prepares, administers, and/or supervises administration of medication, treatments and other nursing services as ordered by the physician and according to facility policies/procedures. Observes Senior/client , watching for any sign of adverse reaction to medications.
  3. Assesses seniors/clients assigned to him/her in regard to physical, mental and psychosocial status, reporting condition changes in a timely manner to immediate supervisor and provides follow-up with family and physician as directed. Takes and accurately records vital signs.
  4. Diligently observes Senior/client skin per Eventide policies, proactively taking steps to avoid pressure ulcers.
  5. Completes procedures and documents the appropriate information on the Senior's/client's medical record in a timely manner according to Eventide's policies and procedures. With particular attention to accuracy and timeliness, follows department protocol for submission of completed documentation.
  6. Provides direction and monitors Med Aides who are delivering medications to Seniors/clients. Follows through on the comprehensive care plan as developed for each individual Senior/client.
  7. Provides supervision and education to Seniors/clients for the self-administration of medications. When applicable, assists in teaching the Senior/client and/or caregiver the necessary skills to allow the Senior/client to return to his/her home.
  8. Assists in writing and implementing a comprehensive nursing plan of care. Updates the plan based on changes in the Senior/client physical and/or emotional state.

Ideal Candidate
  • COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language including medical terminology related to the job.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability of 50 - pounds, demonstrating strength and agility at Eventide's discretion.
  • AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.
  • EDUCATION: Successful completion of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse course of study. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE: 6 months experience as an RN or LPN, preferred.
  • CREDENTIALS: RN or LPN License in good standing as recorded on the Nebraska State Registry or other Nurse Compact state required. CPR Required. Licenses/credentials must be kept up to date at the expense of the employee. Must meet Eventide's vaccination requirements
