 Part-time (.80 FTE) School Nurse

(Elementary K-5 level)
 

At Helena Public schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a School Nurse, you contribute to this mission by maintaining health files on all children as required by law or guidelines.   You will work as part of a team that serves nearly 8,000 students at 18 campuses across Helena.  This position is presently a 0.8 FTE. Entry level base salary range is $49,305.88 (MA/BC/PhD Step 0) to $56,666.79 (MA/BC/PhD Step 6).  Contract is for 187 days per school year.
Some of what you will do:

  • Coordinates and facilitates necessary care and accommodations for students with health conditions which impact school attendance, participation, and safety.
  • Conducts school health services, including physical assessments, health screenings, personal health counseling, and appropriate emergency health services.  

Who we are looking for: 
To become part of this dedicated team, you have a BSN with a Montana Nursing License at the time of employment.
The ideal candidate will possess a Registered Nurse License with a minimum of 1 year experience in a school setting.  Successful candidates enjoy regularly moving, sitting, standing, walking.  The employee is occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  The employee mut occasionally push items of 50 lbs. such as pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture.  While performing the duties of the job the employee occasionally may visit a child's home.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
