Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description
The RN delivers quality patient care consistent with our mission and is responsible for ensuring high-quality services to our patients. Responsibilities include assisting clinicians with patient care and procedures—such as reproductive health exams, collecting specimens, running lab tests, and ensuring exam rooms and equipment are properly maintained. The role also involves patient education, charting in the EHR system, managing lab quality control, and coordinating patient flow and referrals. On the administrative side, duties include scheduling, insurance verification, processing payments, and managing patient communications. The position requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, adherence to safety and compliance standards, and a commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
This is an hourly non‑exempt 0.2 FTE position (8 hours per week) with an hourly rate of $40, reporting to the Clinic Nurse Assistant Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as a collaborative clinical care team member.
  • Supports team members to work at their full scope, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Triages patient calls during business hours, aiding the call-center team in delivering exceptional patient support.
  • Adheres to standing order policies and procedures.
  • Conducts STI screenings for asymptomatic patients, providing education on safe sex, risk reduction, and specimen ordering. Engages in RN visits as outlined by clinic policy and procedure.
  • Complies with federal regulations, including Title X, OSHA, and HIPAA.
  • Accurately documents in the electronic health record.
  • Takes overnight call one week per month, with additional compensation of $300 per week (average 5-8 calls per week, remote only).
  • Contacts patients with results or as assigned, managing care within scope.
  • Participates in laboratory compliance duties and responds to laboratory and pharmacy faxes, including prior authorizations.
  • Involved in scope-appropriate abortion care, assisting in procedural abortions, evaluating sedation options, and monitoring recovery.
  • Provides oral/IV sedation for surgical abortion procedures.
  • Takes on additional responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Pharmacy Responsibilities
  • Assists with pharmacy operations, including working collaboratively with the BVHC Nursing team to:
  • Maintain pharmacy standards in compliance with CRS 12-22-119.
  • Bottle medications by pharmacy regulations.
  • Complete pharmacy inventory regularly and as needed.
  • Works with Nursing leadership to evaluate and update the in-house medication inventory.
  • Manages expired medications and failed IUD replacements per laws and requirements.
  • Orders vaccines and serves as a resource for vaccine administration.
  • Maintains emergency supplies, works with provider staff to create reproductive health emergency protocols, and provides ongoing staff training in clinical emergency preparedness.

Required Experience/Skills
  • Availability:
    • Required: Fridays 8:30 am - 5:15 pm

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • CO State Licensure and Compact State Licensure.
  • ACLS, BLS and CPR Certification.
  • At least one year of clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
  • Knowledge of reproductive health and family planning.
  • Experience utilizing electronic health records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must possess strong time management skills, an unwavering attention to detail, and great organization.
  • Able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of providers, RNs, MAs, and CAs.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (Athena a plus).
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting (reproductive and sexual health a plus).
  • Experience working with marginalized communities.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
