Job description

The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) is seeking a board‑certified or board‑eligible veterinary radiologists to join our expanding Department of Diagnostic Imaging part time. As a premier non‑profit specialty hospital performing more than 50,000 imaging studies annually, AMC offers an unparalleled environment for clinical excellence, professional growth, and meaningful impact. The pay range reflected below is the pay range for a full time radiologist and this part time radiologist will be paid pro rata based on the full time salary range listed below.

Our state‑of‑the‑art imaging facilities include:

  • Two digital radiology suites
  • Two dedicated ultrasound suites (Canon Aplio i700)
  • Toshiba 64‑slice CT
  • A new 1.5T Siemens Sola MRI
  • QMed RIS, Mach7/eUnity PACS, and voice recognition for streamlined workflows

Qualifications

A board-certified or board-eligible veterinarian in the American College of Veterinary Radiology or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging is required. The candidate must have or be able to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of New York. Strong interest and clinical competence in small animal radiology, diagnostic ultrasound, CT and MRI are crucial skills for the job. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work as part of a team in a collegial teaching environment.

Clinical and Service Responsibilities

Duties include performing and interpreting diagnostic imaging studies for the teaching hospital and referral veterinarians. We are currently on a 4-day/week schedule with one work-from-home day. The applicant is expected to work some weekends. Service responsibilities may also include institutional committee work, continuing education, and contributing to professional organizations.

Teaching and Research

Clinical teaching includes instructing and supervising interns and residents in internal medicine, critical care, and surgery. Participation in research is encouraged and many opportunities are available, both at AMC and through the biomedical community of New York City. Teaching duties are centered on resident training and preparation for the ACVR board exam. We collaborate often with the Bronx Zoo!
