Job description

Position Title: Part-Time Payroll Clerk
Schedule: (30 hours weekly)
Salary: $28-$43 / hour DOE
A well-established mechanical insulation contractor in Anaheim, CA is seeking an experienced Payroll Clerk to manage weekly payroll for approximately 356 hourly employees across multiple states. This role will handle certified payroll, union payroll, and required reporting for public works projects while providing additional accounts receivable and accounting support as needed. The ideal candidate brings deep construction payroll experience, strong attention to detail, and a flexible, team-first attitude.
Responsibilities:
  • Process weekly payroll for approximately 356 hourly employees across California, Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona
  • Manage certified payroll reporting for public works projects
  • Process union payroll and complete all required union reporting
  • Verify employee hours, pay rates, deductions, and payroll records for accuracy
  • Maintain accurate payroll documentation and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Ensure payroll activities comply with applicable union agreements, public works requirements, and company procedures
  • Coordinate with branch teams to collect and confirm payroll information
  • Assist with accounts receivable overflow as needed
  • Provide accounts payable and broader accounting support when required
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and financial information
  • Contribute wherever needed within a collaborative, hands-on accounting team

Requirements:
  • At least four years of certified payroll and union payroll experience
  • Hands-on experience completing certified payroll reports and union reports
  • Construction industry experience
  • Accounts receivable and accounts payable experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, documentation, and reporting requirements
  • High level of accuracy, organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage deadlines and complete weekly payroll consistently
  • Comfortable learning Structure by CF Data Systems or a comparable payroll and accounting platform
  • Stable employment history
  • Friendly, personable and able to work effectively with different personalities
  • Flexible, dependable, and willing to support responsibilities outside the immediate payroll function
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
